I was wondering if anyone on here has ever hired road bikes in the Salou area; I'm going for two weeks with the kids and all the in-laws, so the thoughts of not escaping from them all for a few hours a day and not
doing any training for that length of time is not appealing;)
Have one shop sussed in Cambril but their website is all in Spanish. Any info greatly apreciated.

    Bump

Off to Barcelona and Salou over Easter. Can't bring the bike.

Anyone know anywhere to hire a decent roadbike in the area?

Nope. Never got any details. Lashed down the whole time we were there anyway so we decamped to Barcelona.

Top result for Cambrils bike hire....I was there 10 years ago, rented a bike, and spent some pleasant days out and about around the area :)

Hi, just seen your post now. I stayed in Salou in 2011 and it was a nightmare trying to get a decent road bike. The bike rent shops in both Salou and Cambrils only have commuter type bikes and the few road bikes they have are about 30 years old and in pretty poor shape. In despair I went to the tourist information office in Cambrils and they directed me to what we would know as a local bike shop. It's about 5 mins walk away and it saved my 2 week holiday!
The owner doesn't speak much english but he was very friendly and helpful. He set me up on a decent carbon bike with a campag groupset and a leaflet with all the best routes in the area. One in particular, with the Col de Mussara at 1050m, was a real highlight.

    Best of luck

Anybody here know do any of the bike shops in Cambrils or surrounds sell local (ie. their own or local clubs) cycling jerseys? I always try to get hold of a jersey when I'm abroad

I'll be staying at Cambrils Park in June so by chance had a goo at their website and found this:

    http://www.cambrilspark.es/en/bike-routes/road-cycling-enthusiasts

I haven't read it yet so I can't vouch for whether or not the info contained is any use.

Looks great brayblue, I'm staying there in June too. However if I went off on a 2-night cycle trip while on holiday with the family I'm pretty sure I'd be family-less when I returned. I'm thinking I might chance renting a road bike and doing a couple of shorter spins.

There in last week of June interested in doing some early morning spins if I can sort a bike . Found a crowd who will deliver http://www.mediterraniacyclingtours.com/en/lloguer.php but that local shop sounds interesting

Hey all, I am heading over to Cambrils this week and was wondering what options you eventually went for for Bike Hire. I contacted Cambrils park and they said the road trips will be off during July as the temp is too hot. What did you bring with you...Shoes shorts/top.....Any advice would be appreciated, tks.

I didn't bother hiring a bike in the end but I'm just back from Cambrils Park. There is a shop but I can't remember it's name so here's directions:

Leave Cambrils Park and walk towards the beach (follow the crowds). When you get to the main road Cambrils is to the right and Salou is to the left-go left. About 200m on the opposite side of the road is a bike hire shop. Unlike all the other bike hire shops I saw it had a sparkling Wilier road bike hanging outside with the hybrids/town bikes so presumably it's for hire. Don't know the spec as they were packing up for the evening as I went past.

    Hope this helps

I was there last week and went with http://cyclingcostadaurada.com. This is the crowd that operate out of Cambrils Park. I can't imagine there will be no road trips in July. I'd suggest you contact the guy (Jaume) directly - number on website. The staff in Cambrils Park are great but didn't seem to have the full picture on the cycling tours. Talk to Jaume for the full story.

I did a 110km guided cycle up around the Catalonian hills, on a brand new Trek Madone bike, fully supported (food, drinks, mech support). All for €60 - an absolute bargain. Can't recommend highly enough.
I brought my pedals and shoes, helmet and shorts/jersey.

I am going to hire a bike from marine bicicletes, address earlier in this thread. Fantastic shop. Not in the centre. If you find the tourist office go left until you come to a dry river bed or flow off and head up it. You pass under the train track and will see it on your left. Worth a visit some god clothing end of season deals
