Extra cold was one of many failed guinness products around then, including Breo, Guinness Light and the Guinness Brewhouse series.

Guinness might be a bit bland for some, I usually would only go for it if I wanted a change from another beer.

I think the question of chilling drinks is more pertinent to spirits: I'll only drink vodka at home after it has been in the freezer for a few hours, it turns from a vicious stinking fluid into a beautiful syrupy ambrosia. I don't like the idea of vodka if it isn't chilled to the point where it flows like honey.

Yup I remember starting boozing in 1992 and Guinness was never served really cold. Then they brought in the "Exta Cold" taps and after a while they disappeared.... apparently.
What had really happened was they started serving all Guinness as "Extra cold" but didn't advertise it as such.
I like it out of a pint bottle off the shelf because it's not a bad drink, but on draught? Can't taste the bloody stuff anymore. :(

Exactly! It is so injust! And another reminder that we must always be vigilant against the forces that would tell us things haven't changed; and that we must always be aware of how tenuous our grasp on the truth truly is!

Am I the only one who finds guinness a bit bland?
Nope, it's about a bland a beer as you can get really, completely lacking in any flavour, especially the draught. Compared to some of the other stouts on the market, it's a poor reflection of the style.

Guinness Export, on the other hand, is delightful

I'm drinking beer at the moment and it was too cold when it came out of the fridge so I let it warm up and it's purfect now. And it's yum.

Its the most watery stout I think. Beamish has a noticably stronger flavour.

You should be able to taste things better when they're slightly warmer like around 10 degrees. Its the same with cereal, they tell you to use ice cold milk in the ads so you wont notice so much that you're eating scraps of cardboard
