We ended up with 3 spares before the game. Got rid of them at face value to Munster fans. I was speaking with a couple of Quinn lads after the game and told them I had spares and I sold them on at face value. They couldn't believe that I wasnt looking for more cash.

Won't affect him that much though seeing as the ban will be during the summer..

Apparently not all of it. Doesn't include mid June to mid July. The ban stands until Aug 12th.

    Disgracefully low imo.

He got a 12 week reduction for being minty fresh.

True but even still don't think he'll miss many/any games from June to August..

Explains why Stringer was so restrained!

Great servant to Munster and Irish rugby. He was needed this year as Kilcoyne was still very much an unknown, but its his time to pack it in. Very smart scrummager and brilliant in the loose.

Enjoyed some success with Shannon too, was extremely quick around the field in his early days, was unlucky with that health scare a few years back and never really was first choice after his return.

Best of Luck to him for the future.

    Great winger! :D

A man before his time! How he'd have prospered with everyone at the Canterbury style out on the wing!

I think Killer is his cousin, so they are keeping the No. 1 jersey in the family.

Most capped and decorated Clare rugby player of all time, he may have never been spectacular but he'd never let you down.

MR are saying his the most capped forward, wouldn't have thought so as he found it hard to break into the team in the early days because of the Claw and he's found it hard to get his place since his health scare.

BTW, he came to Limerick to learn his rugby ;-)

He missed a lot of Irish camps though which would have given him a lot more starts than The Bull, the Claw was finishing up as the Celtic league was starting so wouldn't have been a factor.

Clare people have to go to Limerick to be born as well so it doesn't count ;)

I guess it's no real surprise.
He was a solid player and before his health scare you would put his name down on a teamsheet automatically. I think even though he wasn't at his best the last couple seasons it was worthwhile to have him in the squad, it must of been great for the younger props getting to train alongside a guy who has won everything there is to win in Irish rugby.:D

Marcus is a legend in my book (even if he is a Clare man :pac:) and wish him all the best in the world

    Best of luck to Marcus!

On the Fillol ban, 12 weeks mitigation?! What the **** are those idiots smoking?!

    Just wondering about Stringer lads.

Because of the tax thing, did he just take a massive financial hit just so he could play one or two more seasons of rugby? If so my respect for him increases again.

I think he's gambling on having two seasons left. One at Bath and one in Ireland as a professional rugby player/player coach. Given his fitness, form and the absence of an injury filled past it's feasible.

I saw Marcus play his first game with Shannon back in the mid 90s. I fondly look back on those wonderful Saturday afternoons when Shannon were almost invincible.Marcus was a revelation as a prop due to his skill, speed and confidence in the other aspects of the game.

2 year contract at Bath would need 3 more seasons left

I see Stander won't be involved again this weekend. Find it very hard to fathom what's going on there

That's a shame the B&I cup is on Friday, I would've made the journey down for it otherwise.
