I must be getting old!

I have recently noticed how much I am craving healthy food, particularly fruit and veg, I would eat neither as a child and its a wonder I didn't get scurvy or something. Now I will actually take a piece of fruit over sweets, love dinners with the plate over flowing with veg and where as before I would go mad if there wasn't a fizzy drink in the house I instead drink loads of water. What is happening to me!

So AH, how did you know that you were getting a bit of sense in your old age?

We often crave foods when we're deficient in the nutrients they provide and a sudden change in appetite can be an indicator of an underlying problem.

See a doctor. I think you might have aids.

Sound medical advice there, ill be sure to get that checked out. I've heard that alright, well considering my childhood and teenage diet I'm glad my body has finally woken up to the vast amount of nutrients it was seriously deprived over the last 22 years!

This is the one part of growing older that I don't mind.

Children's palate's just aren't developed. They need sweet tastes all the time. Most of us who love lentils and cabbage and broccoli and cucumber and salads today probably hated the stuff as kids. I know I did.

This is the fun part. The worst is when you get older and your taste buds start to fail you and everything tastes like Complan (or because it actually is Complan).

That's why when old people say food tasted better when they were young, they're not just being nostalgic, it probably did used to taste better (for them).

We are loosing taste buds from the minute we are born apparently, the older you are the less you have, so say cabbage will taste different to a 10 year old and a 40 year old.
