With the defensive crisis that has struck the squad, I just wonder if perhaps Eric Abidal will be thrust into first team action, probably much sooner than anybody had anticipated.

Options for CD now, along side Pique, are Bartra, Busquets, Song, Abidal and Adriano.

If Abidal hasn't missed a year, he would be the ideal option. But I doubt he will see any competitive minutes until the league is wrapped up. So it has to be Bartra really. And its sink or swim for him.

On the game last night, Sanchez again showed he is not up to it. How he got 90 minutes I will never know.

It's funny Sanchez's over all passing, positioning and defensive tracking back were very good. His finishing was atrocious. Villa on the other hand was almost anonymous for the entire game but you just know that had he been given Sanchez's chance he'd have buried it. Misses aside, Sanchez was the better player last night. Still think it should have been Tello in his place from the start though.

Early reports say that Messi has an outside chance of playing the 2nd leg. Such a shame that the the win wasn't held onto and Barca would not be depending on him so much coming back.

Villa, Pedro & Sanchez (or Tello) is still a very potent attack. I'm sure we can stave them off if Messi isnt fit for the return match

There must be a gif out there of Iniesta's dribble to start the move for the penalty

Barca will probably struggle to get through
if Messi doesn't make the 2nd leg
they are so reliant on him
Tello should be starting he really is developing nicely

What ever happened our Congo? :o

Also, Eurosport have a video on there homepage which seems to indicate Messi does have a strong chance of making the return leg. How ever, i'd prefer he rested and the like's of Cesc started showing their money's worth, home grown or not we forked over a heap of cash fr him..

After 15 years at the first team, Xavi yesterday took his first penalty ever for Barcelona, in his 665th game for the club #fcblive [via md]

Burn the ashes. Send them in a rocket and fire them at the Sun.

    Just in case.

Problem I hope doesn't happen is that the squad gets sidetracked by the will-he-won't-he-make-it and just get on with it as though he won't be there.

Everything after that is a bonus. Worst case scenario is that he is riskily brought on while chasing the game with say 20 minutes to go as Messi would be pressurising to get on in that case.

I'm expecting Andersonisgod to arrive any second and proclaim them the most dynamic and proficient training jerseys of all time that are only befitting of a club with Barcelona's culture, history and class.

Well...this seasons away jersey got quite a bit of flack when it was originally released and that has slowly grown on me. The home kit got a bit of criticism too (though not as much as the away kit) and I really like it.

Those kits in the picture are certainly different and original and maybe in time could grow to be loved (though I suspect that will take a lot of time). In any case I can't see them being the kits for next season. Training kits at best, cheap knock off kits at worst.

good to see abidal back,, lot of respect for him

As with every time I boldly criticize Cesc he goes and plays a blinder.
What ever about the Mallorca defending Fabregas gave an exhibition in composure in and around the box last night. He also seemed to bring the best out of Sanchez too. After last night I feel those two should be given a chance ahead of the injured Messi. No word on him back in training just yet (as expected really) so I think its safe to say any thing now is too rushed.

Any way big week for a team that has been under more pressure than usual in recent times, I again expect the team to come away with the goods against a still maturing PSG side.
(5-3 Aggregate, but perhaps I am a little over confident)

The goals from last night :)

Sorry for the double post but if rumors are to be believed, Messi + 9 others showed up on there day off at the training ground, on their day off. Some great commitment from this team, what a competitor Messi is too. He will be in agony on the bench/stands Wednesday if he doesn't get the green light :/

I think striking wise you guys don't really have any problems.
Villa, Cesc, Alexis/Tello. I think you'll find a way through.

Defensively though I don't know. Alves, Pique, Bartra, Alba would be my pic, Song as a centre back won't work. But I do think Busquets as a CB and Song as DM could work. That said. I think Barca's defence is best when Busquets is DM. :D

I doubt, Tito would risk Abidal, but then again maybe he's really up for it and Tito knows this.

I know there was an offside goal, a deflection and Messi's injury in Paris, but that was not as comfortable as it should've been. Fabregas poor again.
