How to get eBay vendors to list the correct postage cost & royal mail y so slow?

This is ranty. Don't know why I wrote that much explain a simple point so

tldr: 1. msg vendors asking to how much shipping is to Ireland on http://www.royalmail.com/personal/international-delivery/airmail (make sure to ask kindly and like you're not being smartarse/doing an expose- not that you would but I'm the kind who dickhead who would need advice like this cause)

2. royal mail is so slow. can god please save the queen person from working at the post office? she's not fit for it.

I prefer ordering from within Europe and it's mostly sellers in the UK.. because I'm impatient. Although I will order from the US if it works out (at times 25% cheaper than the lowest Uk seller) as delivery times match those from the UK with standard mail.

Understandably they haven't checked out what or how much it costs to mail what torldwide.. even though post costs are cheaper than both of those. Now you can argue that you're paying 2 (i've seen 4x or more) the cost for the "service"... but not when they charge extra for the same effort of posting within the UK.
Now usually t's just a matter ofr 2-5 euro. You could say it's still worth it and cheaper than the shops (it always is.. I think they've goti t backwards with their sales here as well, it's meant to be 50% off not added)
I've been buying stuff on ebay for years. When you get up in the 100s;.. you've done for 3-500 euro... Iestimate I've lazily paid 500 too much lazily accepting that somehow- Uk sellers standard EU region mail price is cheaper than us INTERNATIONAL standard post.. I mean you'll receive the parcel and the cost will be right there and you're like oh.. I guess I paid 10 euro too much. Could be service cost which is fine, reasonable at times but really it's not. It's not scamming or anything either it's just some sellers are actually not sure.. never had someone ask them about it.. or indeed as many are happy to accept the extra pennies. (I think after overpaying like 50 times- I was shocked to find a bit of a refund and a message from the vendor going "Sorry, the postage cost was a lot cheaper than I had listed)..

(even tho I've saved thousands by not buying at stupid prices in shops, to me I still threw away half a grand by not questioning stuff). it really can be a bit confusing when they all have completely different prices and the whole "may charge for service"). Also in fairness to vendors, they usually sell things which require wildly different postage costs (but padded envelopes to small boxes that won't fit your door slot seem to remain 2.70 just the same)

If you can't be f'd at the time, want to buy it now cause there's only 1 remaining and it's the lowest... you can always just take a lil pic of the stamp and ask if the extra charge was for service.. if they say uh why yes it was (rarely)- and they have no extra charge for UK costs then you know they're shady and you can get the pennies back.

It's easy to get them to put the actual price in. Just send a message to vendor... Asking how much postage is to Ireland
on and if they'd so kindly could look it up on http://www.royalmail.com/personal/international-delivery/airmail (rather than telling them you're having to pay way too much, people don't like mistakes or trickery pointed out directly)

I don't think it's the way of lowering item list costs while putting the actual money of it in the postage (so they don't pay ebay sale%- don't know if if thats going on still, but ud always see the fkn 1 cent listings of eelectronics and 40 euro postage buy it nows )

I won't do this at times though when a product sold is like 50% cheaper than all the other exact same ones, I figure fk it. they deserve it and I'm too lazy.

2. Question but mostly more ranting:
Why the F is royal mail post of many types slower than getting stuff from the states and even South Africa. Once I paid $3 (half of what the cheapest royal mail package WITHIN EU is) for standard padded from there and it came in 5 days. I mean Dutch post take half the time and they be shmokin. I've seen northern ireland post that could've been walked to me quicker (maybe it was actually). I've too much sample size to put it down to the person just not shipping until a few days later than they said.

sick of waiting a week or longer for stuff from the UK- IT'S NOT COMING ACROSS THE Atlantic or from the south of africa- it's fkn binocular distance... Does the UK not like Ireland very much for some reason or what? I'm foreign, I know nothing.

I find it so numbingly stupid that they use the Royalkind to manage their mail. Fine it seems fancy- and like it'd be a royal experience but don't be fooled: it's named so because of who works there.. not because you'll be royally serviced- in practical terms they must be out of their minds having that old lady person (I think she's the head royal in the uk or whatever) be the one in charge of the mail.. With her being so busy waving at crowds.. for the majestic list of accomplishments such as being born into a life of golden toilets paid for by her hard working subjects and being saved by God (if need be from a life of luxury, worshippers and working at the post office).
I receive stuff from south africa quicker so I don't know why everyone holds her workrate with such high regard. TO be honest I really doubt it's her doing it, it's probably one of those other royalkind who are always in photos getting married. Although it is a pretty wicked accomplishment of having a bigger house than everyone else despite not doing much at all. I'm jealous.

(religion has it's magical "faith" shield but monarchy has no super special defence against reason- and I'm from a monarchy but nobody really sings moronic songs about them there)

With the greasest respect, look up the meaning of 'brevity'.
Most UK sellers seem to accept a standardized international shipping tariff which I suspect is supplied from the Ebay menu.
I always email a seller if the cost is excessive and nearly always get a result. If the seller is trying to rip you off they usually don't reply and nothing seem to come of the deal.

In my post I put a tl;dr at the start (too long did not read/slang for short version- notice how it takes as long to explain the meaning of something than telling people to look **** up) . Since you clearly missed I now put it at the end. So you can skip to that part- I understand you want as short versions possible as you waste your time clicking topics you already know about.

Costs for similar items are way too varied to be standardized so I suspect you are absolutely wrong. Most sellers are simply not aware, they don't even know they can look postage costs up online or WHERE to. you'll be assured to make it more convvinient for them or get a partial refund. Which is why you have to inform them with a direct link. I did not, I have however many purchases you require to get 198 rating with 100% feedback and it took a whlie before I copped on. Then I realized a lot of vendors needed a direct link to make it quick.

even if it looks like the postage is within range- it tends to be 1-2 quid more than it should at best. This adds up to hundreds. Since you knew all this I'm at a loss why you go into a thread, which is just 1+1=2 to you. I can only imagine it's so that you can come in and say I'VE ALWAYS ALREADY DONE THIS and feel clever- as clever as you thought you were with the first line.. which is straight up moronic considering... If you actually had some respect you'd realize a lot of people don't know how common place this is and that they're slowly bleeding money (and how to easily solve it). I post only for someone's benefit if it's not helpful to you then why bother, really? You add only to be a total stain.

I am with recipio here. I have read your first post twice but am still slightly confused.

Are you saying when buying on eBay ask the seller beforehand how much would it cost to post it to Ireland and send them a link to the royal mail calculator to confirm the price?

I assume you mean ask the seller rather than being the seller. Re-read your question. I won't re-read this because I'm not benefiting from it... other than what I figure will be my yearly good deed.

Here's a last go and then I'm done.

1. Message vendor about item you want to buy- UK vendors have tendency to always put the postage cost, too high for international postage while their UK prices are accurate. This is becaue they don't know. Not scamming.

2. In the message, Ask how much postage is to Ireland without sounding critical- while saying they can check on <royal mail link> and if htey can add it to the postage cost listing as Ireland OR refund you partially after they've posted the item in case you paid too much (which is always the case). It's as simple as having a text file with the question & link if you buy frequently.

3. Save money. Nobody has ever not complied with it. It's foolproof social engineering that is just keeping things honest and fair. Providing the link is key for expediency, making them work it out is key rather than being forceful- giving vendors a chance to feel helpful - they're people... I don't know how recipos method works because most vendors won't know the answer 90% of the time. It's inconviniencing and the "scams" he mentioned probably just couldn't be ****ed with it.

below you need not worry about unless you want to know the logic behind every move you make. I do and I prefer to explain it in extent- but it's apparantly troublesome for mos. I'm a professional cash game poker player of 9 years. I never coached or learnt anything through brevity- Most people couldn't get through a theory book so that's how I've managed.

If the following is too challenging then don't worry. You won't know how much money you're bleeding so it won't bother you. Ignorance is bliss I suppose. Personally I get my thrills out of not being a sucker but 9 years of professional poker will do that. I'm used to in depth explanations I guess- but I suppose therein lies the reason only a minority are long term cashgame winners. Also I'm a quick thinker and I speed read.. Ask how much postage is to Ireland before committing to buy even though they may have- European postage costs listed which they rarely do, usually it's uk / international .. And the international cost is always an overguestimate on their part- while they know UK postage by default. So why would you accept paying more than what the actual cost of postage is? I explained WHY this is common place and understand why vendors don't know.. but once they are the post office and realize they've overcharged you for it- they're not gonna refund you out of goodwill.

in the same message provide the link to the online price checker for them to check, as you don't know the weight or type of packaging needed.

They'll either skip that and say to give you a partial refund on whatever is paid over. Which they would never do unless you'd have asked and agreed upon it. Since paypal is overzealous with buyer protection and ebay messages are stored, and nobody wants neg feedback- you'll never not get the partial refund.

90% of them will just add the correct Ireland postage listing for you to select though- after looking it up. Either way, you end up saving money.

Furthermore you can you use the price checker for yourself for reference you'd be surprised at how much over most listings are.

It's not really that difficult. To comprehend. First of all they're people not companies- so presenting the question and link for them to answer in an innocent way will always give you a result.. rather than asking as if you know it should be cheaper.. if you don't provide a link to back it up you'll get nowhere. I imagine recipos method of just blurting out n out and asking them without providing a way for them to answer.... is why it doesn't always work, or you'll get a delayed response. How are they to know? and if you don't approach it right they might become irate/unreasonable and just flat out say that any extra cost is service. Even so you're stuck in a back and forth.

Vendors always put the international/eu price too high because generally they'll only be familiar with domestic postage costs. This is HOW we GET them to do what we want. Why vendors aren't scamming us but, they're not good samaritans either.

I'm pretty sure this leaves nothing open for questions. If I charged then fine. This is tried and tested by me shopping on eBay frequently since for near a decade. Before I figured it out and after. If you don't like how I explained it then I don't care. Don't come at me as a dick because I figured there'd be at least one or two people who would benefit from it. Just try to quell your desire to be a twit. I sure as hell would've liked to know this before I had thrown a bnch of money away. Good luck.

From what I gather, my summary was correct. If a seller has something listed on eBay and postage seems high you can ask them to lower it and send them a link to check prices. Sounds a bit like common sense to me but I suppose some people wouldn't have thought of it so its worth pointing out. However, I don't see the need for such a long post. I know you try to pass it off as a in depth explanation which is why you are so good at poker (completely irrelevant) but it is not needed. Your posts (especially on Fifa thread) really read as if they have been written by someone with an inferiority complex.
