Evic arrived today, charged it at work, then went home at lunch time (called in on the way home from a job) and Vaped at lunchtime, in my office :)

Its a big boy, i've had 2 Ego-C type batts before, I took a picture of them side by side and gasped at the monster shadowing the ego battery, but im getting used to it.

Built a first attempt SS wick in the aga-t and its working out OK, it may need a bit of refining but im getting better cleaner tasting vapes at around 4.5-5 watts. anything over starts to taste burnt and flavorless (im probably doing something wrong having read some here vaping at 9 watts.)
Also tried the igo-l dripper today again needs refinement. After feeling chuffed at the first SS i made, I slapped together a SS/Silica wick hybrid. It looks disastrous but actually i get an OK vape from it.

Overall Im glad i jumped to VV, the vape doesn't seem to burnt out near the end of the toke as in the ego batteries. Think I've spent near €300 since i started 6 weeks ago, but the beauty is Ill get most of that back when I sell off the bits I've amassed.

If i spent that on Benson & Hedges, pah, up in smoke! litterely.

Sounds like you have a hot leg. When you fire at 8watts with the cap off, does the top coil glow at all? Or the bottom coil (harder to do but it happens)?

Have loads of chargers and batteries. My only experience with tanks has been the DCTs and I quickly got p*ssed off with them.

Started on cartos (thanks to Sir Digby) was maybe this set up will bring me back to my roots!

can i do that without causing any damage? (coming from Silica.. fear of burning something out and getting perma burn taste)

You can. When you've first built the coil on SS, firing the coil dry is the only way to know that it's evenly built, that all the coils are lighting. It's a part of the process. If a couple of coils on top are lighting but not the ones at the bottom, you'd nudge the top coils down or up or whatever makes the coil light up uniformly.

Make the fires quick though, if you hold the button for a half-second too long and there is a short or a very hot top leg, it may snap.

Last night ordered 2 x protected 3.7v 4000 mAh 18650 Ultrafire rechargeable batteries on ebay. Works out around €22 with postage, my Efest 3100 only lasting me 22 hours (real time) so hoping these 4000 mAh will do me well over a day. If they work out better than the efest and Samsung 2600 will be ordering a few more.

Strange though tried buying the very same batteries off Amazon first and they are not allowed for shipping to Ireland from the UK, but is ok from Ebay

Edited: Actual price in yoyo's was €24.35

Don't think there is such a thing as 4000mah li batteries sounds dodgy.
Let us know how they work out.

Actually came across 5600 mAh batteries, can't remember if on Amazon or Ebay, but didn't state "protected" so went for the one's I bought.

Royal mail wont allow batteries to be posted without a device.

Yeah, the Ultrafire batteries are known as bad enough already, the ones on eBay are usually the fakest of the fake.

Three lists on AkkuDB (bookmark this site, very handy - Google Translate should take care of the language barrier):

    Ultrafire

    Ultrafire (real/genuine)

    Ultrafire (fake)
See the last entry on this page.

Fingers crossed for you P.I.T.A.! How many mls did you vape through in those 22 hours and how did other batteries (like AW) compare?

I hope Im wrong but thats what I heard a while back.
Probably a stupid question, but why do you need a protected battery in an e vic?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,026 ✭✭✭grindle

No, the eVic already has short circuit protection.

EVIC, bloody EVIC dat pile of bish with its 11 watts limit  Nah I've moved up to a higher plain of vaping these days. Even the Provari can't hack it, keeps cutting out at the wattage I'm vaping.

Maybe you should just plug into the national Grid :-)

A protected battery is only as good as the circuit anyhow. If the circuit fries first (which does happen) its going to go Boom anyhow.

Personally I'm quite happy to use branded safe chemistry high drain batteries like Efests, or AW's even in an unprotected mod, rather than rely on electronic circutry on a battery to ensure my safety.

Not to mention they perform better and have just as little (or much) chance of something going wrong.

11 watts Pfft - thats a real kick in the neither region for ya!

My wattage takes me over the Provari amp limit (not sure what the limit is tbh)? I assume that's why I keep getting the E2 errors and why I'm looking for the biggest mAh battery I can get my mits on to last over a days vaping.

No not yet Grind's but is on the cards as my next purchase.
I bought a Zmax from TBS on Tuesday, (got fed up with the Provari not firing half the time), powerful yoke and nearly half the weight of the Provari, that and the VV Gripper only the 2 mods that I can use with the Vision dripper that doesn't conk out and the Zmax looks great with the dripper both same tone.

My selection from the Alchemist cupboard arrived, at last. really missed my mint choc! Got 50ml now to keep me puffing happily. Also got a sample pack with all sorts of flavours from rhubarb custard crumble to Santa's Christmas cake.

I tried out some Lemon meringue as it's my favourite dessert, or one of them, and it definitely requires steeping as it tastes like soap right now :/
