    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could please give me some information. Someone has offered me a silver bachelors teapot from this maker, dated 1890. I'm getting offered what I believe is a good deal but I know nothing of this silversmith other than small bits of info from google. Is he a good silversmith to have a piece from, as in a desirable silversmith to have? I am looking at buying the teapot as an investment and don't want to waste money on a non-desirable collector who I won't get my money back on in the future. Any thoughts welcome. Many thanks.

Very few collectible silversmiths in the second half of 19th century - Workshops aplenty and filled with silversmiths marking their wares under a parent name.

Sometimes there is a little nick beside the mark of the workshop , this would be a 'journeyman' mark and would represent the individual silversmith who actually made it.

Best thing to do is get a weight and see if is close to the silver material value.

Many thanks for your reply. I bought the teapot anyway, got it for a great price and I will get use out of it for the moment anyway with a view to holding onto it for investment purposes.
