    Hi,
I am recently starting to have trouble with my Skoda and it went into limp mode and the local garage told me the Catalytic convertor was on the way out and needed replacement -am waiting in a price but its not gonna be cheap!'

If I decided not to spend the money fixing the car,(it has a slight leak in the rack also and not sure it'll pass the NCT (its 2003,) I was thinking of buying a Mark 4 Golf 2002, 1.9 Diesel that I saw advertised.
107k miles on the clock. (€3k)

I am just wondering would this car be worth taking a punt on?

    Cheers,

looks like a tidy motor, price is on the strong side for my liking just you would want to make sure the timing belt is done just so you dont have to cough up in a few months

    Cheers Guys,
The EPC light on my Fabia was reset and hasnt returned so far today. I presume if the CAT was broken it would come on after driving and also I am told I'd notice a smell....I think, from reading up it could be a lambda sensor and not the CAT.

Glad that the Golf seems a tidy car, I might get someone to take a look at it so.
    Thanks again,
