stupid question, but do priests still drink wine when giving mass on Good Friday

    possible case of double standards

The Irish "radicals" who want to drink 356 days of the year are back again, looking forward to a 3 or 4 day weekend which caters to a "pedo cult" but annoyed beyond reason that they can't drink on one of those days because of a " pedo cult. "

Lads. You do g have to drink every Friday despite the Irish group think and if you do , buy Thursday.

Without the Pedo cult, they wouldn't be on holidays in the first place

    The ironing :pac:

No mass is celebrated on Good Friday, so no wine is taken

It's been a long time but is Good Friday the day where it's not a proper mass and there is no communion?

Is there anything stopping a bar from opening & serving people alcohol if they don't take payment? Perhaps a locals bar where people pay the day before for alcohol to be consumed on the Friday. If no moneys are exchanged on the day, surely its just friends gathered for a social occasion?

Buy as much drink as you like tomorrow!!! :-)

There is no fun in that, anyone can buy it tomorrow but there are a few who want to buy it on Friday, what's the difference, buy it on time keep it chilled is my advice.

Always have to laugh at this.

Most Fridays I wouldn't care whether I had a drink or not.
But for some reason I always want a pint on Good Friday because it's being denied to me for ****e reasons...

Even if it was the wine would no longer be wine.

In Catholic bull**** mythology this is not wine but the blood of Christ (it is also stipulated in their dogma that it looks, tastes and for smells like wine, but it isn't)

I'm surprised that the next Boards Beers hasn't been scheduled for Good Friday :pac:

If people were serious about this issue they would also be complaining about the pubs being closed on Christmas Day aswell.

    But they're not.

It is the same old bigotry dressed up as "liberalism" and "freedom from religion".

I was at a funeral recently, just before the communion part the priest announced that there would be a separate chalice for Coeliacs - if it's really the blood of christ why would that be necessary?

I'm not sure you know what that word means.

It really doesn't apply when you're looking from church-state separation.

They're not because it isn't Christmas, that's next on the list.

Same with the wine thing, it's really the flesh of Christ but it has all the appearances and attributes of bread as well, you really have to be brainless to believe this crap

Perhaps some of them were glutens for punishment?

I totally hear your argument that its a joke that those of us that don't follow the "Christian tradition" can't choose whether or not to go for a pint or to the offy for cans, but really, I don't hear the same argument for Christmas day, same deal, born one day n died another (supposedly), same religion! Just more convenient at xmas

You can't be accusing people of bigotry without proof. I agree the incessant whinging and human rights/oppression bullsh1t is annoying, but Good Friday for non believers/practitioners is just an ordinary day and many of us feel we should be able to go for a pint (not necessarily get pissed) if we wish. The comparison to Christmas day is moot - people tend to be at home for it. But if religious people want to observe good Friday and not drink, more power to them, however it's their business, not mine.

It's a day off for full-time pub/offie staff though, which is deserved, to be fair.

The banks, and most businesses, can't open Monday because of this mythical zombie chap, and employees who want to work or the employers who want them to work at normal pay generally can't work or hire; and this applies to loads of businesses on Friday as well.

    WHERE'S THE OUTRAGE!

DOWN WITH THE ZOMBIE JESUS GIVING US A LONG WEEKEND ON THE VERY WEEKEND HE BECAME A ZOMBIE!

Actually it is written into canon law that if you can't eat gluten you can't take communion at all. Seriously, look it up.

    Good lie though.

I think the whingers here are in the minority when it comes to not wanting a couple of days off. Who in their right mind is going to turn down the opportunity of a day off?:D

You could always go to work, I'm sure your boss will be ecstatic.:P
