Maybe the time to try some skunk weed for a change :D:D:D

Is that not illegal though man youd still get arrested, would be better to be under arrest for drinking on the day than to be doing drugs like that ya know. Bit stupid

Certain chippy I know of in Co. Limerick where u can only buy fish and chips on good Friday, no sausages, burgers, chicken etc???
    What's the reason for this?

Dont know why you cant drink on good friday, what good is a wake without booze, sure Jesus loved a few bottles of wine himself.

You're not supposed to eat meat on Good Friday, dunno why. The canteen at work will have no meat on Good Friday.

EDIT: aherringterm beat me to it.

You can legally purchase one drink with a meal, plenty of hotels (were I work included) will open the restaurant and serve you as many drinks as you like.
You can also drink if you are a resident in a hotel.

so was i, but i have always worked in pubs so have always drank in one on good friday if i wanted. it was always 'cleaning' day

Good to hear u gave it up then, most people cant and do anything theyre able to get their hands on the stuff. if you were drinkin on the job though you must have been pretty bad, ha put up the cleaning sign and go to the toilet and down the pint

Separation of church and state my ass (and I wont even be drinking. I'm just viewing this from my position as an atheist)

I like the way we're forced to do something different though. It's usually a great days, so many parties on and makes a change from going into nightclubs or pubs.
Just make sure you have enough.

But you can do that anyway? You dont need to legislate a day for it

The only good thing about Good Friday is seeing the stag and hen parties in Temple Bar looking completely distraught.

To be fair I doubt there's that many "Catholics" care whether other people drink on Good Friday anymore.. Alcohol isn't confiscated there is no forcing by Catholics to be like them. The law is outdated period and should be removed off the books. I doubt there would be much resistance.

The rebel and sh*t I won't be able to buy it tomorrow purchasing probably makes the offies a fair bit every year.

Are you actually naive enough to think peoples' join dates are the date they first started using boards. Mine is out by about 7 years. Never been banned or anything just feel like a new personality every couple of years.

Serves ye right for ticking the Catholic box on the census.
Remember yer thirst the next time you contemplate doing such a thing.

PS. Light up a doobie and have a great Friday, rather than a poxy good Friday.
