Maybe it was the Irish team just off the plane or something? Would they fly home the same night as the match given that they have a home game next week and there wasn't really a lot to celebrate by going out on the piss in Sweden?

They stay out in Portmarnock,so even if they did fly in tonight,no reason to be near Christchurch.

It's the new brewing machinery for the Guinness brewery upgrade. Massive towers and what not being moved very slowly towards the city center. Really weird to see coming down the road so slow with a load of gardai escorts.

Yeah could be a bus going up to collect them from the castle as it went towards Christchurch.

No it wasn't it was 5 or 6 bikes around a bus travelling on North Quays then turning over the bridge into Christchurch. Seen pics of the new brewing machine looks class. Presume Guinness pay for that escort and pay Dublin City Council for closing roads etc?

Only time I've seen a coach with a Garda escort other then a rugby team I seen get one once is the bubble gum club. They bring sick kids on trips seen them get a Garda escort up the leopardstown road towards dunlaoghaire for the ferry to Alton towers. It was quite sweet really they looked like they where having a ball.

I know a guy who had a Garda escort when he was getting a taxi into one of the maternity hospitals for his wife giving birth.

International Rugby and Football teams are escorted to the games. If its in the Aviva, they past my house. Which reminds me of a story about how embarrassing our parents can be.

So Ireland were playing France in a World Cup or Euro qualifier a couple of years ago and generally when you hear the escort everyone would run out a give the team a wave of support especially in big games. Cue sirens and my mother running onto the street with an ireland flag above her head screaming Ole Ole Ole! In heavy evening traffic.

Turns out, Ireland were playing in Paris

I got one when the mother was driving me to hospital with a pain in my testicle. There was a match on in town and loads of traffic as a results, but we spotted a Garda we know and he got a motorbike Garda to escort us down. I'll never forget his face when Ma told him why we were going to the hospital. It was a face of pure fear that only a fellow man could understand. :pac:

I've seen football and rugby team buses get escorted to and from stadiums at many levels. Bogball teams usually just drive to the pub in their tractors after matches.

The Galway team coach passed me on the Navan Road in Cabra on All-Ireland Hurling Final day last summer and they had a motorcycle escort.

I doubt they're still circling the quays though.
