Brilliant signature - the delivery of those lines is immortalised in my mind.

Been binging on Bowie in the last few days actually, mostly thanks to his new album which isn't a classic but a more-than-solid effort and delightfully recalls Scary Monsters and Lodger. Revisited the latter and my ears finally came to terms with - nay, savoured - its oddness.

Of course it doesn't top his mid-70s (and 1980) output but that shouldn't be too much of a surprise - very few can get near to that sort of quality, never mind recreate it decades later. Won't exaggerate its value like a few critics are doing but it does have a handful of very pleasant songs.

Oh yeah and good call on those two songs, both brilliant. It's a wonder how John I'm Only Dancing and Velvet Goldmine were left off the Ziggy Stardust album... Either would have been miles better than the It Ain't Easy cover.

YES!! I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One is a mind blowing album! Only recently discovered them however so I couldn't recommend much bar their Best Of compilation, it's called Prisoners of Love.

This is one of my favourites.

Also ya gotta love that opening instrumental "Return To Hot Chicken"

^ Dat bass. I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One is brilliant, one of the best albums of the 90s (and ever).

Their newest album Fade is very good too - it doesn't exhibit their rockier side too much but if you enjoyed the gentler songs from ICHTHBAO then you'll like it a lot.

This is one of my favourites from the album, it's hypnotic.

My love for Conor Oberst just won't quit, despite the questionable standard of some of his more recent solo releases. Can't fault Bright Eyes though, this album especially has some really poetic lyrics.
