Last weekend - $25,000 on the line for 1st place in SC2.
One player 'Life' defeats the other 'Flash' ....no craptalk like them tards in COD ...just 'GG' after he lost, then they went and shook hands.

Proper "Professional" gamers, and the most skilled in the world I'd say.

I turned that COD video off after 1 minute I got so annoyed, they are exactly how people describe the "xbox" COD gamer unfortunately

Can you really compare the 2 though ? You are actually in physical contact with a danger of being hurt etc in those sports.

In E-Sports there is no need for such an attitude.
Just look at the fighting scene or the top players in SC2 , they are exemplary. The most BM SC2 professional scene would get, would be Idra back in the day...when he'd prematurely rage. But it was never like the above.
Just because you play a game on a console where you shoot people shouldn't make you any different, especially considering they are representing a team and have actual sponsors on their shirts.

Had that with Witcher 2, TF2 and a few other games at one point. They need to redownload as there is a different format or some other nonsense. Hence the dozen long list of paused updating games I now have

Yeah it's not looking good for MS out of the gate, especially considering the Xbox is about their only remaining product that people aren't afraid to admit liking. Then again, maybe this controversy will cause them to not make it always-on.

Not unless you lived in Europe or Japan. Japan is already a lost cause for MS, and making it always online would mean Europe would give them the biggest middle finger to them since the whole antitrust scandal.

I don't think so. I have a friend who is an avid Xbox fan who said that he simply can't get the new one if it's "always on" because his internet connection just keeps dropping out. I can say the same. I have ridiculously fast UPC broadband (100Mbits) that's far better than what most people can get and even then, the router frequently drops the connection and takes a good two minutes to reboot. Back at my parents house in Kildare would be even worse, sometimes (usually a couple of times a year) the broadband can go out for a week or more until a technician comes in to fix it.

If people have these issues (and plenty do judging by the outrage toward Orthy), why would they buy the Xbox and not the PS4?

Because people are stupid. They are also sheeple. If everyone else is getting one, they will too. They will bitch endlessly about it but they will still buy it.

People act like this is a gaming phenomenon, but it's really not. We do it with everything. It's a similar principle to people who "hate" tv shows and bitch endlessly in threads about them but they still tune in every week. Everyone else is watching, they don't want to feel left out. It's why most people bought a Wii or an iphone. Trends.

If all of your friends are playing on xbox, are you going to be that one guy on playstation? It works the other way round too. There are people who's circle of friends play on playstation instead of the xbox.

It's also why COD is the juggernaut it is. Are you going to be that one guy playing spec ops when the people from school/college/work are talking the next day about the fun they had playing COD? It's a knock on effect.
