"Vitamins" is short for "Vital Minerals".

When I was 14 I went on holidays with my parents, and being the youngest I would be on my own so we brought my cousin with us, who is roughly the same age as me.

It was a self-catering holiday, smallish one-bed apartment - the bedroom having two single beds and the sitting room having a fold-out couch bed suitable for two people.

The couch-bed being small and crappy, us kids were put there to share it while my parents took the bedroom with the single beds.

3 or 4 days into the holiday my Mum asked us to swap beds with them because, "We've been sleeping in a double bed for so long we can't sleep properly in the singles". Of course, we were only too delighted to get the better single beds and let my parents take the crappy double.

It was only yesterday, nearly 17 years later, that the penny dropped and I realised why my parents wanted to swop...

    *shudder*

On the toaster issue, the numbers aren't actual minutes, they are gradients of time. I tried this the other night and a 5 went for 3 and a half minutes, and an 8 went for 4 minutes. My mate did the same and the durations were slightly longer, but the higher number stayed in for more time. Then I realised how sad it is that I was timing a toaster and stopped.

Oh this refers to time..... I actually thought the higher the number the higher the intensity of the heat hence darker bread:o
I was allways wondering why the heat threads inside never looked any brighter on the high setting then medium setting:o

It was probably true in fairness. They might like to cuddle when they're sleeping. They could have had sex in the single beds just as easily as on the couch.

In fact, they probably did. In the bed you slept in.

Seamus is not going to thank you for that image. Sex between parents is frankly ludicrous.

Sorry to bring this up again, according to this design, the setting would change the distance the strip needs to bend before cutting the power thus changing the time required. It doesn't change the temperature the toast is submitted to. Therefore the setting relates to a change in time.

If you go to www.boards.ie it lists all recent threads that have been commented on

If you click on the number in brackets after the thread title, it will bring you the next post in that thread you haven’t read (or unread post!) or the 1st post in the thread if you've yet to read the thread at all (ya with me?!)

    I think!

I never knew that lingerie was pronounced like laun-jer-ray. I always thought lingerie pronounced like lin-ger-ee was an entirely different thing to lingerie pronounced like laun-jer-ray :pac:

Correct. Handy, but annoyingly doesn't work if you are browsing a sub forum rather than looking at recent posts/my threads.

Just use this button beside the thread title to bring you to the first unread post.
Or you can use this button beside the last poster's name to bring you to the most recent post.

The lyrics to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme tune are "...Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool, And all shootin some b-ball outside of the school"
however I always thought they were ""...Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool, And all shootin some meatballs outside of the school"

I was watching some American comedy last night, and only realised that at hallowe'en when they trick instead of getting treat, they "T.P." (Toilet Paper) them...

I always thought they were "Teepee" ing the house - as in turning it into a tent/teepee..

    Erm, it's the same place....
Bangkok is the capital and the most populous city of Thailand. It is known in Thai as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon or simply Krung Thep.

Just realised that shoes generally aren't interchangeable. Was wondering why sometimes my feet hurt like hell and other times they felt fine after putting on my shoes.

The toaster debate reminded me of something I discovered a while ago:

The numbers on fridge temperature settings aren't actually degrees Celsius. And even more confusingly, the higher the number, the colder the temperature. I'd been doing it wrong all along!

    WHAT

Taken from the qi wiki page

Krung Thep (forfeit: Bangkok) is the proper name for the capital of Thailand. Krung Thep roughly translates as 'City of Angels', like Los Angeles. The ceremonial full name for Krung Thep is the longest place name in the world. Los Angeles is also an abbreviation. Only ignorant foreigners call Krung Thep, "Bangkok".

Bangkock is just the port in Krung Thep

Two fish are in a tank.
One says to the other, "How do you drive this thing?"

It took me years to get that joke. I'd always just pictured them in a panzer from the get-go, which spoiled the punchline somewhat.
    Oh, the enlightenment...

Two things, one I realised, and one I need my flat mate to realise !!!

    SPOILER ALERT

I only clicked when I was 30 that in the song "I saw mummy kissing santa clause", that it wasnt really santy, it was dad dressed up as santy. Wanted the jolly bearded one dead since I was 4 for messin round with me ma behind my da's back.

And for my lovely but slow flatmate.................see that dial on the toaster, its a f****ng timer, not a thermostat...........turning it up wont make your toast cook quicker, it just make my toast stay in longer, till it burns !!!
