When I was younger I had a cat called scum, because he used spend all day dragging his bum across gravel.

Then I had another cat I called ring licker, because well, that's what he used do all day.

I had a cockatiel that I didn't have a name for but I taught him to say "fùck off".

And I had a snake called percy, but it was either percy had to go or my girlfriend at the time was gone, and since percy wasn't putting out, percy was put out.

Said girlfriend at the time is now my wife. I miss percy.

My aunt named her two cats 'Cat' and 'Cat Junior' because she was too lazy to think of names for them.

My dog is called Lola, I think it's normal enough but other people tell me it's strange. I named her after the song by the Kinks because everyone kept calling her a him when we first got her.

My poor old dog passed away last week - we called him Marvin when we found him but my late Dad (who had a Drogheda accent) called him "Staavin Maavin"

When I was around 4 or 5, on the first day in our new house in Mitchestown in Co. Cork. I heard a cry from a neighbours garden under a pile of wood. After a few hours, my neighbour and my dad unearthed a tiny grey kitten. For whatever reason, I named it "Anna". My fiancee is also called Anna. Odd one. Psychoanalyst's wet dream right there.

After that, I called my next cat "Purrby". Subsequent generations were landed with awful names from the Care Bears and the Thundercats. Bless.

My sister had a cat called Cippolini (the c is pronounced 'ch') when she was about 9/10 who was named after an Italian cyclist. Why, I'm not sure as she never displayed an interest in cycling before or since, probably just thought it was a cool name.

Apparently Katy Perry has a cat called Kitty Purry which I think is great!

We couldn't choose whether to call our kitten Gandhi or Carrots, so we combined them and called him Gandhi-Carrots. My dad told us that it was an insult to both gandhi and carrots :L I thought it was pretty cute personally :L

My grandmother has a dog called coleen, when the dog is in heat, all the dogs from the neighborhood start showing up to do the deed. I think its hilarious as my grandmother knows the names of each of these dogs, but she assigns their owners surname to them, so I'll often hear about her complaining about how sandy montgomery and benji murphy were in the garden all night bothering the dog.

My goldfish is called Cuchulainn and he is huge, same like my Guinea pig Fionn. The other one is Grisu and not half the size.
Oh and the sister of my dog is called Noodles.

We now have one called "Black Cat".

And another one called "Gobsh*te", because we couldn't think of a name, and he's a really stupid cat.

EDIT: Oh, we also had a Tomcat named Suzie for a few years, because we named him before we checked what sex he was.

One of my friends had a cat called Kevin, just always thought it was an odd name for a cat, it belongs more to a 45 year old man.
My friend had a dog called Keith. I always remember going to his house one day and his mother was outside the house screaming over at a green area after the dog, desperately shouting out "KEITH! KEITH!" and some passing woman stopping with a stunned concerned look on her face looking over at the green too, presumably thinking she was looking for a lost child, since there was nobody on the green.
