I bought the Crivit Bike computer (Z31162). Could have been a mistake I know but will to give it a try. The instructions however do not tell you where on the fork to install the sensor. Surely the the height of the sensor and the magnet on the wheel is important or am I missing something? The only measurement it give you is a max of 70cm from sensor to the main display. You input the tyre circumference but wouldn't the position/height of the of the sensor in relation to the wheel matter?

Plenty of instructions on Youtube . This for example

Anyone know if either Lidl in letterkenny or buncranna have any stock left? I haven't had a chance to call out today and might tomorrow if its worthwhile.

Was in Letterkenny at lunchtime today, loads of gloves and socks left. There was a good few rain jackets left but just two of the fleece jackets (S & M sizes) There was also a few pairs of shorts too.

To determine speed you only need to know the wheel circumreference and the revs of it. Therefore the position of the magnet/sensor combo on the wheel and fork is irrelevant.

For example, if your wheel circumreference is 2m and the wheel is spinning at 5 revs per second then you are traveling at 10m/s or 36km/h.

Ah that makes perfect sense. Thanks Hmmzis. I have it installed now.

Hmmm I only remember seeing the one. It has 3 different lenses inside, black, blue and orange ones. It also has the foam around the inside of the frame as well. The lens is only connected at the sides and the top if that's what you mean? I'm lost :p
I heard a few funny noises trying to get them out, a lot of creaking coming from the frame lol I had to use quite a bit of force pulling on the side closest to the hinge. Looking at the design of the lens, it seems like its the easier side to pull it from. Are you sure you want to take them out:D? I took them out, decided the blue ones were ridiculously dark and slotted the normal ones back in.

Picked these up with the foam around the inside because I thought it will be useful at keeping the pollen at bay when hay fever strikes in the summer

Lol I think ill keep them in so :)

Will you let us know if you get it working please? Still thinking about getting one, that could be interference from some of your electronics or something like that.

Had the same problem with the one I bought in Lidl last year, never buying cheap wireless again.

Set mine up last night and based on spinning the wheel it seemed to pick up the speed alright and stopped as soon as I grabbed the wheel. Wait and see till I road test it.

mostly nothing in Rathmines - all sold out. a staff told me more stock might come after 3-4 weeks. Only L and XL waterproof jackets & softshell and 1 medium size waterproof jacket, in cork street d8. around 6 tool kits and 24", 28" inner tubes (two of each)
The Store manager in cork street was very helpful. he took the time to check with the other outlets in the area to see if they had any stock. The same with the staff in rathmines - said a better bet would be to check stores outside Dublin as they would mostly have stock. I was quite surprised at how helpful they were.

I spoke to the customer service regarding stock in certain stores and i was told
greenhill (walkinstown) have stock for inner tubes(all sizes - 24, 26 and 28) and softshell jackets (size small)

i spent 6 hours of the day behind just trying to buy 4 items and still couldn't get one of them :pac:
I had plenty of time yesterday to buy the stuff but choose not to out of sheer procrastination
lesson learnt - don't leave things for the last minute.

I cant ever understand these bike kit deals in Aldi or Lidl.
They never have enough stock. Youd see stock piled everywhere from other previous offers (gardern stuff, tools etc) but the bike stuff is gone within hours.

Another issue is that only 2 or 3 of the cycling items out of the lot are xxl.
You can buy a xxl jersey buy no xxl shorts or jacket.

    Go Figure...

i agree its quite annoying. if you dont have a vehicle, (this is what i did anws) you could find the store(s) on/close to the bus routes nearby, ring customer service (1800 number) and ask for the stock of the particular items your looking for in those stores (and mention the sizes). apparently they only check stock in 2 stores per call, which is quite annoying as well.

I can attest to the performance trousers and cycling trousers, wore them this morning on the way in, it was freezing but they kept me warm and most importantly comfortable!

    Im confused about some stuff.

These are listed as underwear. (got 2)
    IE_79075wk1113_01_b.jpg

These called trousers (I got a pair)
    IE_73467wk1113_01_b.jpg

These are the padded shorts I bought.
    IE_7907379078wk1113_01_b.jpg

They both look identical. Do you wear both of these under your padded cycle shorts? Or are the trousers different and go over the 3/4 length shorts I have. I read that your not supposed to have underwear at all between you and the shorts padding and your goolies. This contradicts the above. Are these underwear a "base layer"? If not what is. Also what are bib tights? Where do they go?

Whats the bloody order of all this stuff!

The top two are base layers but are not suitable to wear under padded shorts.

They are for wearing under normal shorts/pants to keep your nether regions dry. If you wear them under padded shorts you will just cause lots of chaffing.

So if you needed warmth other that the padded-shorts you might put on some big tights over them like these?

    dhb-paceroubaix-3qrt-pad-aw10ps-med.jpg?w=350&h=350&a=7

Then maybe a base layer shirt on top if its cold? And then a jacket to suit whether its windy or raining?

If you neeeded warmth, you would wear the bib tights you linked. Nothing underneath them though.
Up top, cycling jerseys or whatever you've been wearing up top already. Then maybe a light jacket I generally go with a jersey and a jacket like this

Why are you not meant to wear anything between your golden jewels and the padded shorts?
I've been wearing either compression shorts, running leggings or the above under the padded shorts for the last couple of months and havent had any problems. Im presuming its with regards to the wear on shorts or your skin :D sorry about lack of knowledge

It's just the shorts are made to sit between you and the bike. If you place something in between the shorts and you, you can suffer from chaffing around the manly region :)
It sounds like your body has got accustomed to wearing something underneath though...or your not riding enough :D

haha I'll go with the later, doing less than a 100k a week at the moment due to knee issues!

yeah, if you did 100k in one go with a base layer between the pad and your balls, well, you'd be very tender afterwards!

The pad in your shorts/bibs is designed to contact your nether regions and keep them dry and in the one place (less movement = less chaffing), putting another layer between you and the pad negates this effect.

I don't have schmancy leg warmers or tights just bib shorts and one 3/4 length pants but I have a pair of underarmour thermal tights from when I played rugby and soccer back in the day and I wear them over my cycling shorts and that works grand in the cold! I sometimes wear my underarmour longsleeve under my jersey as well if I don't feel like wearing a windproof jacket if it's cold but not windy.

Could not get my 8.99 Lidl bike computer to work .Would not properly read /detect sensor even when magnet was banging against sensor.Waste of money.Pretty bulky too...Temp sensor wildly innacurate along with speedo WHEN it briefly and sporadically worked.

Same deal here. When it is "working," it likes to pump my ego by telling me I'm going 99.9 kph. :(

I'll be changing the old username to Balls of Steel next. :)
I did 228km last month with a base layer on. It's a very rare occasion when I don't use a base layer. Got 3 pairs in the last Lidl sale and very happy I am with them too.
Some people suffer from chafing, some don't. Some use cream, some never have to. I'm sure there are plenty out there who dispense with padding as well. Different strokes..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 382 ✭✭Brad768

Yeah I used these as a baselayer yesterday for 60km and did 55km with them today. No chaffing at all, need to get a seat change though...

Well I guess if you're not a hefty lump like me Chaffing isn't as likely. But with my fat arse, I need as much help as I can get.

Phew. I'm sorry for your troubles obviously, but I'm just glad I resisted the temptation to follow up the wired one I got last year which has never worked with a new wireless one this year which would in all likelihood never have worked either ;)
