Did you ever faint?

I nearly fainted when an anaesthetist stuck a need into my lower back and got it wrong the first time and had to do it again. Very close to tipping over on the surgical table (you sit up for the injection), the surgery nurses propped me up as I began to topple.

Never fainted, that is for laaayyyddees. Got knocked out once or twice though. Only briefly, but it's not all it's cracked out to be. How did the Op turn out? You better?

I think i was close to fainting in the shower after a workout last week... would have been embarrassing !

Ah yeah. Got my Achilles tendon stitched back together. It was creepy feeling paralysed from the waist down though (and the bastards didn't tell me the very last thing that gets the feeling back is the old meat and two veg - scared the bejaysus out of me).

I fainted/passed out while on the loo in A&E, split my eyebrow open on the sink!

Oh what fun was had that night!

Yup. I only fainted once but it was freaky.
Was smoking fake john player cigerettes a few years ago. Was in the kitchen by the sink, felt myself go and I just hit the deck. Can only describe it as switching off the lights then switching them back on. Broke out in a weird sweat afterwards.

Lesson learned: don't smoke fake cigerettes people (No brainer tho)

If what you got was an epideural, a lad I work with(who is a tough bugger) got one and said it was the worst thing(pain) he ever went through. I now have waay more respect for women who put up with getting one for childbirth. Leaving aside the whole "watermelon through a letterbox aspect".

I fainted once in the school yard. We'd gone to the library earlier in the morning and I hadn't eaten so I think that was why.

I also fainted on stage during rehersal at the National Concert Hall when I was in the National Children's Choir. I was suffering from heat rash at the time so I think it was all a bit too much for me.

I've nearly fainted when I was in church when I was a teenager. I walked to mass, by myself, really early in the morning and everthing started to go black. I had a feeling I was going to faint so managed to make my way outside and this cleared the blackness (I had also not eaten that morning).

I also nearly fainted last year when I was observing hip surgery. Was all going grand till the surgeon cut into the hip and a rake of blood shot up out of the hip! Luckily I knew it was coming over me and I left the theatre. (this was early in the morning and I hadn't eaten).

It's a good thing to know the feeling of 'about to' faint. Can save a lot of embarrassment.
So, I always try to eat breakfast!

I've never fainted, only came close once but someone saw me and sat me down and told me to put my head between my legs :P

I was in a hospital at the time so I suppose it would have happened in the best place.

I've fainted twice. Once after giving blood and once just randomly after walking upstairs. First time was preceded by nausea and a cold sweat. Second one was preceded by a deafening buzzing and ringing sound in my ears. It's a horrible experience.

At age 12 singing in the small choir at mass beside the altar- about 300 people looking at me, I start feeling weird and floaty and bang, just hit the deck. I think this was from standing still in the one spot for a 'nice long mass'.
At 15 in Biology class they were dissecting a rabbit, told by the teacher to come up and look with the rest of the class, fainted again. She knew my stance on it and made me look!
Then OH fainted when watching 1st baby being born

My last faint was after a traffic accident in Phibsboro 10 years ago, I was passenger in a taxi that was concertina-d from behind. Pretty boring , that one.

Getting KO'ed is worse than fainting by a long shot. Ya literally see the 'birdies' not to mention possible damage to y'self. Gimme a common or garden faint anyday.

I did the same, gave blood stood up and went back down just as quick, same feeling to when I came round,

I would be guessing it is a similar feeling just before you kick the bucket.

Knocked myself out once rummaging for a toilet block thing in the press under the kitchen sink, I was coming back up and misjudged my exit, bang, came round a couple of hours later, no bruise or anything, so just got up off the floor and dusted myself off, checked all my bits were in the right places- carry on.

Fainted once in the doctors.
I was to fast from, I think 9pm the previous night for a bloods to be taken.
For some reason though I missed dinner and ended up fasting since lunch then about 1 or 2 in the afternoon. I was starving but didn't think it would be that big a deal. Get the blood taken and pop round to a cafe for a full Irish.
I had 5 vials of blood taken, and was just sitting there holding the little cotton wool thing to my arm when I felt my lips tingling.
Woke up a few seconds later with the nurses calling me and trying to bring me round. Very disorientating, I wasn't sure where I was or what happened. For some reason the first thing that popped into my head was that I was being arrested, possibly due to the shouting and feeling I was surrounded.
Took a few minutes to get my bearings back. Not a nice feeling at all.

Afaia an epidural is different because complete paralysis is not the desired goal when giving birth.

Maybe the delivery method is the same though? Maybe a medical person can set us straight on the matter.
