Nope. Its a pure survival server, anything like that would be considered hacking and is a bannable offence if caught.

Modpack. It has its own installer and launcher, all it uses is your regular Minecraft account to log in, it doesn't mess with your vanilla Minecraft install.

Have to ask, I've attempted to connect a few times but each time I get a java error: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out any help, I've googled it and any of the solutions have links with servers, but clearly others are connecting fine.

Maybe someone can link where they downloaded their launcher? It would be extremely helpful.

and is everything in there (ie buildings around the spawn) built by mining materials or is there a certain amount of creatativity allowed?

Buildings around spawn will be from materials mined. Spawn will probably be a protected zone so the spawn buildings themselves will be up to the mods and admins to build

In other words, the usual

Dunno if its workable but an idea for the vanilla server: to make things a little more interesting around spawn and reduce the great exodus away from there 24hrs after the server goes live, maybe use the Bukkit signs or something and give each player one free (or very very cheap) pair of private TP signs linking their residence at spawn to their Big Thing And/Or Strip Mine Miles Away From Everything and back. That way people are just a signpost away from their private mines and/or big projects and don't feel the need to abandon spawn never to return once the spawn mine is depleted

Which in turn might make more people think of the spawn town as something more than a disposable shack to start in and never see again after the first day of the server going up

I like that idea. Will see what I can do.
