I think it was because come monday morning the guy was still pushing and sharing his story after receiving an apology the day before.

He got an apology from the club and was still trying to get people on his side?

I can kinda see why people are pissed at him

Why hasn’t the doorman that was fired given his version of events, would love to hear his side of the story cause we are only getting one side of it so far.

Maybe he doesn't use the internet or facebook. It would seem that maddison have probably instructed their staff not to be commenting on social media about this. Looks like the other bouncer, probably frustrated with the one sidedness of what was been put out, broke rank and put forward the opposing side of what may of happened.

Yes it seems that way. Apology given on sunday. Monday morning he gets up and starts to share the photo and story again, and posts on his twitter account along the lines of, 'busy day ahead'. I don't have facebook so i'm not sure how what he did manifests itself.

It be interesting to see if it goes any further, aside from being a one sided social media campaign. Cynically maybe that's all it was intended to be...

I appreciate that TRR but you can be sure he knows the **** that’s going on over it, I’m sure he would have been speaking to the other bouncers about his sacking. I know if it was me and I felt I was sacked in the wrong, I’d be making some noise about it I can tell ya.

Can someone sum up what happened?
I read the first page or two and now everyone is of the attitude the guy in the wheelchair was in the wrong and the bouncer should be given his job back.
    There's two reasons for that:

    1) As somebody else said, "Graham" has continued to push the issue on his own FB page, after getting a grovelling apology from the nightclub - obviously written by a lawyer/PR.

    2) Other evidence has come to light that "Graham" was not refused entry because he was in a wheelchair, but because the doorstaff couldn't carry him down the stairs; and his friends, and he, got arsey when told they would have to carry him down the stairs.

Wouldn't the club have been responsible for whatever happened to the guy if his friends dropped him?

Is he so evil that you can only say his name in quote marks? Shudder…

Maybe he has got legal advice over wrongful dismissal and has been told it will hurt his case if he gets involved with the whole social media thing. I don't know, just speculation for most of this case. But it would seem he was made scapegoat to be sacrificed to the baying mob in the hope it would appease them. I know if I were a business i'd much prefer someone taking a case of wrongful dismissal against me than a case of discrimination.

Yeah that's the thing I don't get. And also them saying people in wheelchairs, or something along those lines, are more than welcome anytime. Either they can or cannot facilitate wheelchairs. I've have visions of 20 or so people in wheelchairs rocking up to that club southpark style next saturday :pac:

Yeah that's what confusing me too. I suppose it was probably said in a bit of sarcastic way, trying to make it clear "there's no way we can take your man in here since it's all downstairs".

I read the first page or two and now everyone is of the attitude the guy in the wheelchair was in the wrong and the bouncer should be given his job back.

Basically, Graham Bolger posted a pic of himself in his wheelchair outside Madison stating that he was refused entry because he was in said wheelchair.
Cue Facebook mob declaring war on Madison and threatening not-very-nice things.
Madison issue statement apologising profusely and say that bouncer who refused him has been let go.
Tide now starting to turn as more details come out (eg. witnesses saying this is NOT what happened, and that it was nothing to do with the chair)
Despite being asked a number of times, Graham hasn't actually confirmed if the bouncer actually said he wasn't being let in because of the wheelchair. And has re-posted the pic despite receiving an apology from the club.

The whole thing smacks of publicity grabbing to me, and this guy works in media, so definitely knew what he was doing and what sort of storm it would generate.

As many have already said, why not go to venue first and try sort out privately, and THEN if they paid no heed to him, fair enough, name and shame em on FB.

Yes, sarcasm is usually the best route to take when you're trying to make an apology as a damage limitation exercise.

Yeah it takes a lot away from Graham to presume that this was premeditated before he even got to the club on the night. It would be easier to imagine someone being refused and possibly being insulted or perceiving as such and taking enough exception to this that they start a campaign to get back at the club. Either way I think he should give it over at this stage. If it comes to light that he is on the money trail I would be really disappointed in him.

I'm not gonna scroll 30 odd pages into the future. Why don't you just quote the guy?

He can't be much of a mate if he feels the need to quote mark his name… does he do it in real life as well, making the quote marks with his fingers when mentioning his name?

Well 'kunst nugget,' I really can't answer that question.

Jaysus. You don't have to scroll, just change the last two digits of the web address to '53' and hey presto. I didn't feel like quoting, as there's plenty of quote's in the post already, but since you asked...

This is it. Jesus you lot would argue over anything !
These posts just confirm my initial thoughts.

This dude in the wheelchair embodies the "wannabe" socialite celebrity culture in the country. Gets his mug in Showbiz Ireland or probably in some Irish glossy magazines at , goes to Lillies, model girlfriend...... this incident was nothing to do with discrimination. Whether opportunistic or planned, this was about a jumped-up, self-important guy trying to make even more of a name for himself irrespective of who got hurt.

A very determined person is not someone who sits in a wheelchair acting like a baby, posing for pictures, vowing revenge through social media. A determined person is someone like our own Orestes here on Boards who showed true fcuking balls to overcome his medical problems. A determined person is someone like Mary Smith or Maureen Sullivan, complete nobodies to us, but they fought long and hard for justice over the Magdalene Laundries. Determined people are the very sick kids in Crumlin Hospital fighting tooth and nail to survive, matched only by the determination of our surgeons, doctors, nurses and parents to keep them alive.

This guy wouldn't know the meaning of the word determination even if he had a dictionary open beside his Heiny or glass of Crystal. Anyway here's the definition we need.

What if you are using forty posts a page? Why are you discriminating against me?????????

I tell you what is hardship though. Trying to get into a basement club in a wheelchair…

Funny thing is, if he had accepted the club's apology, requested a charitable donation, and posted something about 'raising awareness' or whatever, he'd probably be enjoying national hero status today.
This incident has certainly made me more aware of the issues faced by wheelchair users on a daily basis, but carrying on with the campaign (posting again, after the apology) makes me question what he perceives the trophy to be in this one-sided fight he has declared - does he want the club shut down? Everybody out of a job? I really don't know...
Youve just stepped in the ring with one very determined person.

This has probably gone on too long for that now though...

Ah, fair enough, forgot about the different set-ups!
In any case, quoting a post removes the original quotes that the poster used, so I thought it would be better to direct to the actual post with quotes intact, as it makes more sense and reads better! :)
