    Hi there

sign up to direct debit (autopay) and you will get your bills electronically. (ebill) You can retrieve these and print them off "my upc"

    http://www.upc.ie/customer_support/helpdemos/?code=A8ED2F6B-FD32-410F-8BFF-77F83E9CAE0D&vid=video_463

If that option doesnt suit, you can move to a payzone option no problem

    Hope that helps

    Thanks

    Jason
Can you answer my query about switching from DD to manual payment (e.g., paying a bill during the contract period in a Payzone outlet etc.) please? My intention is to sign up using DD and continue with this, but I may be able to expense the monthly bundle costs in future. My employer requires 'real' payment receipts rather than online statements, hence I want to know whether I can switch payment method in future if necessary.

Even if you've your own equipment? I think you guys came up with this recently it wasn't before or atleast I haven't heard. I'll be moving to the new place in d-7, it seems they already have UPC broadband and phone but obviously I want it in my name, so the line is already active there, do I still have to pay this activation charge.

Hi there, I recently bought a UPC package through the boards offer, chose the carphone warehouse voucher option and since received the email from UPC telling me to bring my first bil into a store to get my voucher, but when I brought it in today they knew nothing about the offer and were adamant that it was only available by ordering in their store (i tried explaining 2 or 3 times and was told by the sales representative that that was definitely the only way they gave vouchers). I was wondering if you'd mind helping me out on this?

I'm about to send you on my name and account number in case you need it, thanks

    Hi Jason,

Our landlord has an account with UPC with analogue tv. We want to get the 50MB broadband installed but we would prefer to only get that, not the bundle. Is it possible? I was a broadband customer years ago and that only way i could get the broadband was to upgrade to digital, is this the case?

    Cheers

    Hi Jason,

Can you tell me why the Broadband Offer is €44 per month through this link http://www.upc.ie/boardsoffer/ and only €39 per month through this link http://www.upc.ie/broadband/

    Thanks,

    Niall

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,796 ✭✭✭Virgin Media: Jason

    Hi iggy82

Sure. The €39 Broadband link you refer to is for 50mb broadband on its own (when taken with 1 other product, ie: TV or Phone)

My €44 price point is for a 50mb Broadband and phone c/w 100 minutes calls per month bundle.

You can order 50 mb broadband on its own, however if you have no other product from UPC there will be an additional standalone charge of €7.87 (listed in there conditions on the product you linked to.)

Secondly, if you order the broadband bundle via this boards link, you will get it half price for 4 months www.upc.ie/boardsoffer (assuming you are a new customer) plus you will get a €50 voucher. If you order 50mb on its own, there is no offer applied to that order.

Clearly, this makes the boards offer the most attractive offer.

Please note, the boards offer in this form only applied until February 25th, at which point it will change.

    Thanks

    Jason

    Thanks Jason.

One final question - I will not be moving into my new house until the end of March - is it possible to order through this link now and put the install date then or do I need to take it sooner?

    Thanks,

    Hi Jason,

I would like to sign up to the UPC boards offer. I notice that the offer ends on 28 Feb. If I sign up now, will it be possible to avail of the offer even though iI won't be getting the broadband and phone installed until the second week of March?

    Many thanks

    Hi there theroomisonfire (and iggy82)

The current boards offer of 1/2 price for 4 months plus a €50 voucher ends on February 28th, however the boards offer will continue after that with an equally as attractive version. I will announce details on March 1st.

    Thanks

    Hi Victor

To qualify for this offer, you must have ordered via the boards link. At this stage your order would be loaded in our systems, and your appointment scheduled so there would be no way to apply the offer now I am afraid.

    Hi there

I am interested in the following deal:

    Fibre 100. 100mb Broadband & Phone, c/w anywhere 100 Call Pack. Costs €30 p/m for 6 months. Then €47 p/m. Activation Charge €45.(get a €50 voucher too)

While I have read mixed reviews about the actual broadband speeds I do consider it a good deal. on average during congested hours what speed can be expected ? 65mb download ?

I was wondering how long it would be from the time I submit my details on the UPC website through the boards link to installation/setup ?

I will be moving into a place next week in South Dublin. How does one go about providing the usual details such as ID address, etc. Is there a link to upload a scan or do post/email them to UPC ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Feel free to PM me.

    Jason,

I was looking at the essential offer and reckon I must be mis-reading it as I do not understand how the 'offer has got even better'. Previously, from your earlier post, it was half price for 4 months which would be a saving of €132 (33x4). Now it is €50 for six months, a saving of €96 (16x6).

Also in the past the activation fee was waived. By my reading, recent changes make this package €126 more expensive to acquire. What am I missing?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,796 ✭✭✭Virgin Media: Jason

    Hi there ontour2

Previously with the old offer, you are correct, there was a €132 saving from the UPC subscription, however, there was no Sky Sports/Movies offer, so the total benefit including the €50 voucher was €182.

This offer based on the bundle you mention will save you €96 off your UPC subscription for the Essential Bundle PLUS €44 from your reduced price Sky Sports & Movies, PLUS the €50 voucher, totalling €190.

Standard activation charges are applied now and were on the last offer.

All that means that this new boards offer is worth an extra €8 to new customers signing up, and savings of up to €190. Thats a bargain.

    Hope that helps

    Regards

    Ah Jason,

Please compare like with like. Your last example requires an additional spend of €480 in the first year for the Sky addition package to achieve comparable savings. It is only valid if you make that assumption clear and it applied to the vast majority of people who took the previous offer.

'Like for Like' for the essential bundle, the offer has deteriorated twice, firstly the addition of the activation fee and now with the reduced discount.

I understand that you are in sales but you are probably stretching your creative writing a little too far with the spin. You would be better off telling people to buy now as the offer next month will probably be worse again. At least I can see the logic in that!

Thanks for your comment and feedback.

In UPC we are constantly updating, changing and improving offers depending on customer interest, input, requests and feedback.

Sky Sports & Movies offers always go down well, and a very significant number of new customers switching from Sky to UPC avail of these offers, hence their inclusion in this offer as an extra add on.

Customers can add them if they want and get the discount, or they can decide not to subscribe, and still get reduced price bundles for 6 months and a €50 voucher as a boards user.

In relation to your comment that the offer has deteriorated, the offer being promoted now is actually more than twice as strong as the original offer here on boards http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=64516389&postcount=1 which gave no reduction in price for services at all, just free activation, saving €20 per box at the time and a €50 voucher, meaning a total saving of just €90. Significantly less than the current offer value of €190 ( and even the €146 value when you do not take Sky Sports & Movies)

This is just a different proposition, The boards offer of a €50 voucher remains in place since the start.

    Regards

    Jason

    Jason,

I appreciate UPC's willingness to interact with their customers and I have found the broadband product excellent. I find that most customer interactions are intentionally obtuse as can be seen in your responses.

Above you referred to previous free activations valued at €20. Activations now are charged at €45. Can you explain the 250% increase in the 'value' of an activation since the initial offer you referred to?

UPC's broadband is the best but UPC's ability to build trust with customers has a very long way to go.

Can I just say I signed up for this on Friday evening, got a call Saturday and another email Sunday to arrange installation which is happening on Saturday (originally offered tomorrow but that doesn't suit), and so I'm delighted. Just the broadband for us as we have sky sorted, but we're chuffed with the price reduction for 6 months and the voucher will come in handy too.

    Thanks Jason.

Long time member - relatively infrequent poster.

Jason - It's over 2 years on, is there any headway with a UPC connection in Donegal?
I live close enough to the border with the north to be taunted by the likes of BT, plusnet, virgin, UTV and many more all touting speeds in excess of 50mb.

What are UPC doing in regards to getting us out of the stoneage, cuz there is a huuuuuuge market and our only option is Eircom? :(
