think it would take longer than 24 hours for you to recover from severed limbs to be honest pal.

What if Graham was applying for a job there?
He's already employed as a fireman. Unfortunately he's in dispute with the local station because they have all these ladders that he can't use.

Actually, they aren't obliged to take wheelchair users. There's no difference in priority regarding buggy/wheelchair. It's first come first served. So if a buggy is taking up the space, it's at the discretion of whoever came on with the buggy.

I mean the buses have to be accessible. So they have those ramps and things. same with government buildings, hospitals (obviously) schools etc...

But a resteraunt, shop, taxi doesn't have to. If someone doesn't get on a bus because there's no room, it's the same as being turned away from a full nightclub. They should have gotton in the queue earlier.

Maybe the second bouncers Facebook comment of him being an arrogant self-important kind of twat etc with too much drink seems in my eyes to be gaining more momentum as far as credibility of whom to believe.

I spoke to the guy on the night after he was stopped and he was completely sober and had only got out of the taxi. It was 11.20 when we spoke. He was very polite and well spoken and had no aggression in any way and was in no way drunk.

The club wasnt full , it was 11.20 and there was about 80 people in the place as i had just come out.

That's just not realistic. Every georgian building on merrion square has to get rid of it's granite steps and have a wheelchair ramp? The interior of all these buildings has to be altered to put in a lift?

It has to be proportional. Lots of those buildings will have disabled access, it may not be obvious. That's why I asked how old it was.

It doesn't matter that the building is old, it is the refurbishment. If they spent €50m refurbishing the building, then they would be expected to ensure there is disabled access. Being under
rground has nothing to do with it.

It's not a matter of queuing when you've various bus stops along a route. The provision of wheelchair accessibility on the buses is purely cosmetic. My da's a driver on'em himself, so that's where I've heard it from. When there's no priority for the wheelchair user, it can't really be claimed to be for the purpose of providing a wheelchair user with a means of public transport.

Forget about customers for a minute. People work in these places and employers are expected to make reasonable provision for disabled people.

If the building isnt wheel chair friendly then they were right to deny access, ie no wheel chair friendly toilets/lift/ramps etc.

how exactly do you refurbish a building for wheelchair access if there's no place to put it? been in loads of tiny pubs that are only accessible by stairs, they cant magically make space for ramps

That's nice. When did I say he was turned away because it was full?

I've said consistantly through this thread that i felt he was probably turned away because it's down a massive flight of stairs.

But of course, at no point on his facebook pages has he actually said what he was told by the bouncers. And at no point did he say what happened in those 45 minutes or what the humilation was. Or why it had to be that club.

And his mate who posted it here has been suspiciously silent.
Added to the fact that even after an apology and a man losing his livelyhood, he's still posting it on his facebook page, it sounds like what he wants is to make the club lose so much business it closes, meaning even more people lose their jobs. That's just nasty, petty and vindictive.

I can't believe the two statements his mate made here. that 1) he didn't want this attention and 2) he's a relaxed guy.
That's because even after an apology he's still posting it. And he works in media so he knows what happens on facebook. He wanted this and he's feeding it.

I'm also a bit confused at how his friend says he has no idea who the girls are, and someone else posted photo's of him with the girls.

My personal opinion is that he's either petty or had a previous gripe with the club.

So what's the plan for those two folks if the building needs to be evacuated?

When I did a fire safety training course, we were told to leave people in wheelchairs in a safe place as far away from the fire as possible. Then to inform the fire brigade that there were people in wheelchairs still inside when they arrived.

Then it isn't proportional. Disabled access has to be taken into consideration, it is the law. If they cant do it, then somewhere there should be a report saying that options were considered and were not practical.

A commercial premises cant just say **** it, even though we are spending millions doing up a property we cant be bothered to build ramp or a lift.

My personal favourite comment out of all of this was the genius of a girl on facebook calling the nightclub owners 'spastics'. Fighting the cause for people with disabilities!

Really? So firemen are supposed to provide wheelchair accessaible ladders for disabled firemen? the HSE has to provide facilities for blind surgeons?

Im confused that someone on here posted that they have known him 20 years and this has never happened but on the text accompanying his facebook image he states that he has been adventuring in a chair for 8 years.

    Which is it?

There are safe havens in each stairwell where peopor who cant make it down the stairs can wait for assistance.

they can if there's no room whatsoever. Like someone said earlier, should they build in wheelchair access into the leaning tower of pisa?
