All driver links for rooting point to:

Samsung Galaxy S USB Driver for Windows x64

Is it really ok to use this for i8530 on Windows XP?

I doubt it. Afaik all these new phones have different versions of OS. therefore drivers would be different for the various hardware functions.

    Me too.

I installed XBMC on the device and am streaming movies from my NAS over the network with the video being projected onto a wall. Sounds are being played through a cheapo bluetooth speaker system...which copes admirably!

Edit: actually..the projector isn't working under xbmc! It'll stream web videos no problem, however. Hopefully there'll be a fix for that.

Just a quick note to those who are interested in beaming movies from their own NAS. it'll work perfectly by using a file manager... Eg I'm using ES File Manager along with MX Player Pro.

The Samsung Beam is back in stock again on the site at this price. Also a deal on the HTC One X at 199 and the HTC One S at 159.

HTC one x at that price was fantastic value, either sold out or a whoopsie moment from them

You can de-un-expired the thread because they're all out of stock already Basq.
And the website seems to be consistently saying they're out of stock this time.

Just got a 'out for delivery' email for the beam I ordered yesterday, yippee. I guess I'll wait until I have the yoke in my hand before I get an unlock code.

Can't find the beam on Carphone Warehouse..
Do they remove it altogether when it is out of stock?

I was told in the shop when I was buying it that if I unlock it myself the warranty is void. Not sure how much truth is in that but I have read somewhere that if you unlock it on Vodafone.ie the warranty remains intact.

Mine arrived yesterday, and I'm very impressed. Will vodafone.ie unlock it on request, or do I have to get a code on eBay?

After a year(or so) or when you top up enough you can ask them for it.

Vodafone will unlock it for you if you top up by 127 euro within 6 months. I asked on Vodafone's forum about the unlocking codes from eBay and was told I can unlock using those codes and the warranty will stay intact as far as I don't have to modify the phone to unlock it(root).

"If the code was requested through us (even via a third party), then the warranty would stay intact - though not if the unlock involves modifying the phone in some way."

Thanks, worth a try all right, but no, my O2 SIM didn't work.

Thanks - that's very helpful. I guess eBay is the way to go. Did you go ahead with buying an unlock code from eBay? If so, did you use the seller linked earlier in this thread?

I didn't get it unlocked yet, I'm planning on getting the code when I use up all the credit I have.

Have a look at the quoted post:

I just unlocked it. I sent them the imei and then they returned me in 5 minutes ( I am impressed) the code to unlock it. They send you an email with the code and the directions

Thanks - got the unlock code on eBay from the seller linked by living - all working swimmingly - now just struggling to import all my contacts in vcf file format

    this might help someone

found out this only at the weekend after trying and failing (mobile unlock direct)
to get a code for a fone i was trying to sell which cost me a few quid
eventually the buyer told me this...Logged into my father in laws paid vodafone account, and was able to get the Unlock code instantly :-) (you can get three unlock codes from a Paid account - handy to know)

how many people even know this?

I wish you had posted this morning! My dad has been with vodafone for years! Very handy to know for future purchases though. Especially if they try and flog off any more premium phones on vodafone.
