I'm thinking of getting rid of my two (mismatched) CD players in favour of a controller I can use with the computer, and the mixer I already have.

I like working buttons, and I've gotten used to the quality of the buttons and jog dial on the CDJ1000, technics etc.

What controller should I be opting for, I'm guessing I'll get about 700 out of the two CD players on EBay.

Pioneer have a good line of Traktor/Serato controllers, to suit almost any budget. Many of these are heavily inspired by the design of their CDJ's. The DDJ-T1 comes in at around €700 but if you could stretch to about €1000, the DDJ-SX is definitely a serious piece of kit!

you WILL probably get sick of the controller and wish you had kept the cdjs or went for 900s or soemthing.

    2 best options:

    1. sell the current setup and replace with 400s or 350s or 900s, any of the cdjs with midi capability can work perfectly well with traktor.

    2. get an audio8 and traktor control cds. few cheapish ones floating around on adverts lately..

I was talking to these guys during the week about doing something similar; http://musicminds.ie/
Apparently they've stuff from American DJ coming in, as well as the denon stuff.

The numark 4trak is one of the only midi controllers that i have used that doesn't feel like a fisher price toy, the build quality is fantastic and the pitch sliders have the same resistance as a 1210. However if you dont want an all in one unit i would recommend a Denon dn-s-2000. I bought one a few weeks ago to replace my CDJ 2000, you only need one as you can toggle between which deck you want to control, the build quality is really good and its cheap as chips. The only draw back is it has a small jog wheel, which my be an issue for some people (depending on your style of mixing)

The Denon stuff looks pretty decent, that's why I put up the link above; There's an MC3000 on there that comes with Traktor LE2. Could be perfect for the O.P. if he wants to make the switch.

have one myself, about 2 years. the amount of times i have pressed stop forgetting that the deck im stopping is actually the one playing....

would DEFFO buy a second one if going that route.
