The HTC One S needs to be rooted before been unlocked.

    Root
Unlock (Use method 2 or 3 down the thread)

I had several HTC phones and they were all unlocked without having to go and unlock them I thought as a rule HTC phones are never locked

CPW sent me a used Beam when I ordered a new one.
There was a battery already in the phone and a photo taken back in August.

It was still cool to have the Beam for two weeks, but I'm much happier with the HTC One X. Even if I don't ever get those free Beats earphones that are sposed to come with it.

    Which outlet? =)

Just gotta make sure my outlet doesn't sell them separately or something before I ask for them.

Go into your local carphone warehouse and they can check stock for you. Went out to Liffey Valley at lunch and they had none - confirmed none in Carrickmines but 3 x's in Dundrum so I drove out there like a lunatic :D

Unfortunately the 3 in Dundrum don't have the beats headphones (this was a special promo that had been running so not all the stock left have the beats headphones attached).

After all of that I decided to pass on purchasing the x as I think the wife would prefer the slightly smaller s version so there are still 3 out in Dundrum if ur quick.

Can anyone who already has picked up an x confirm if its locked to vodafone?

What is the model of those beats - in ear or overhead?

Mine [without Beats] is locked to Vodafone.
Also, the three left in Dundrum have been reserved by people so they're unavailable.
I'd recommend people to phone [<< verb] shops in advance to check stock and reserve them.

    These are the earphones.

is it only the 'X that has the earphones or is there any chance the 'S might come with?

The One X is coming up as 199 online (400 euro discount) and I'm at the checkout.

Is this a joke or one of those "we messed up, you can't have it for that price" occurances?

    It's neither. Buy it.

When CPW outlets have a few phones left of a model that's being discontinued and isn't selling, they do a recall and the outlets send the phones back to HQ/"the warehouse" and they're sold online. That's where the new stock on the website has come from.

There's no mention of Beats on the website though, so you could get it with or without them. Still worth it either way though.

Others have got it for that price AFAIK..

    .. so yep, it's a go-er!

Would pick it up if I didn't already have a Beam waiting at home waiting to be unlocked.

Solution: Download a photo to your Beam, dated August 2012 :pac:

Just got off phone will a chap in Citywest, none left there.

Said there were 2 left in Blackrock and 3 in Dundrum. Didn't ask about the rest of the country. Would've been a panic buy for me and can't really afford it right now so closed out the online purchase. Ah well!
