I've done a few 15km runs recently and I'm getting pains in my hips and knees. Nothing severe during the run but alot worse after. Is this just a breaking in pain and ill eventually get used to it or could anyone recommend something to take. I take fish oils and glucosamine

It could be 101 things but it's unlikely to go away by taking some magic pill!!

<snip> A visit to the physo to correct your movement may be the next step.

We do not give out medical advice. Injuries may have common symptoms but are unique to the individual - just because you were able to keep training with X injury or were out for months because of Y doesn't mean that the same will apply to someone else. Bad advice given here and followed through could aggravate an injury and prevent an athlete making a full recovery in as rapid a time as possible. This restriction is Boards-wide and purposely heavy-handed. So don't feel offended if your thread about a sprained ankle (which you may deem "non-medical") gets locked.

Mod: as poster says before go seek professional advice. Hip and knee pain can have a wide range of causes. No tablet will cure any issues you may have I will leave thread open if you want to look for recommendations for someone in your area but will be closed if people start with medical advice

Are you doing too much too soon?

No amount of Fish oils or glucosamine will compensate if you are.

I don't think I'm doing too much. I run two 5k's during the week then a 15 k at the weekend

Look for a physio that actually plays sport preferably running, tri, Cycling. As you don't want to go to a place where sports injuries are like hen's teeth where they deal with people who are mostly inactive with bad backs.

That basically means that you're doing 60% of your running in your weekend run - not good! It might not be the cause of your problem, but as a general rule you should have a more balanced running plan.
