Annettea that's so exciting that baby might be here over the weekend, be the first march baby :-) if I was you I would try relax and not get the hopes up too much, I think when baby is ready to enter the world then that's when he/she will! I've only had what I think are braxton hicks 4or5 times that was two weeks ago.

Lilbe - if c-section is the safest way to get baby here then so be it, try stay positive about the spinal these docs do this stuff day in day out, babys really do call the shots from the very beginning of pregnancy so your baby is calling the shots here and doesn't want to turn and go though a vaginal delivery :-)

Best of luck tomorrow carramelbarrell with hosp and scan hopefully it will be all good and midwife was just been over cautious.

YH I've had a few internals over the years, they are really not bad at all, after the last one last year I did feel a bit violated but that's because I wasn't really expecting it but sure it will be the first of many until baby is here :-) best of luck with it.

I'm back with consultant Friday. This burning sensation is really starting to get me down. I know it's to do with my ribs being inflamed and muscles been stretched I just wish I could put something on it to relieve the sensation, it feels like im sunburnt, been on all fours and resting on ball helps a bit but i cant do that 24/7!

Hi everyone, I've been following this thread for months but never posted for some silly reason. I'm 38 weeks today too Caramelbarrell and am also planning a home birth! Hope your apt goes well today but as you said whatever way and where ever baba arrives doesn't matter as long as all is well. This is my second baby, my little boy will be 20 months next week. I'd planned a home birth then too but waters went at 38 weeks and no contractions so had to be brought in for induction at 38+2. Was really calm about it and had a great experience - started oxytocin drip at 4pm, first pain at 5:30 and baby arrived at 7:10pm - think the hypnobirthing helped. Was home with baby at 11am the next morning ;)

Trying not to expect this baby will be early too as will make the next potential four weeks very long! Finding it hard to sleep and having some braxton hicks (had none the last time so this feels like the first time for all the new experiences). Little fella is in crèche and I'm making the most of maternity leave with glorious day napping ;)

Hope everyone else feeling good. Its a lovely time of year to be having a baby, mild, birds singing and days getting longer.

Morning ladies! First day of mat leave-well not really-working from home! Deeeelighted though! Anyone heading to Aldi for the baby event today?

Had appt. tuesday-babs is 7lb 5ozs which everyone seems happy with. Talk of doing sweep next friday-don't know how I feel about that-bit of a let nature take it's course type gal....

Caramel and Lillbe-might be a problem with saurday for me..... I'm REALLY sorry but might not be able to be in Dublin. After all my talk and great plans..... I'm so so sorry... :-( and very disappointed.

Trying to find time to get a bump shot taken too-anyone else?

You're still working wicklori? I found that this week the baby dropped slot and the level of discomfort increased ALOT! I had an appt with consultant this morn and apparently womb is still v high so I ain't going anywhere anytime soon. He wants me back next thurs which will be 39+6. Mentioned doing a sweep then also, although if bubs and I are ok, I suspect he won't.

I still haven't got a weight on baby but they say he measures normal for my dates and has plenty of fluid around him. I guess that's good enough for me for now.

Loopy li, hope all is good for you. Hope you other ladies are well....sorry I won't see you sat either. Def soon though.... X

    Girlies...
    bad news yesterday...
    so gutted.
From the 'estimated' scan result baby is only 5 pounds and 10... and scans are usually inaccurate so i'm a bit fuming really.
    No Home Birth allowed.
Based on a guess from a machine...

And then on top of that... possible inducement. That's the last thing I want.
Doesn't it seem more common sense to leave her in there if she's a little small??? And anyways, I am tiny, so of course she is small otherwise how would she get out....

    So, I'm really annoyed.

I've to go back next Wed for another scan and then make the 'plan'.

I think I can refuse to be induced but the doctor was very persistant there yesterday, I have to say....so I dunno...

Hi Loopi... I enjoyed hearing your experience of the inducement, you actually make it sound not too bad. But, I'm the same as you Wicklori - want it to be natural - when baby is ready, she will come. I've still 2 weeks to go! Why induce next week??!!! It just doesn't seem right to me.... Loopi, I'm doing all the Hypnobirthing work too, but I've read many stories of inducement being so full on that it inevitably leads to needing extra pain relief..... and I've been planning and preparing for a Home Birth...have the water pool all set up upstairs and all... :-( :-( :-(

Awh CB sorry to hear there will be no home birth that's poooo.... i would have taught 5lbs 10 with two weeks to go and with the likelihood of even going over a week that she would then be a a good 6 to 6.5 lbs weight. Weird that they want to induce you a week earlier especially if she's small. Try not worry. Just be prepared next week and if you have any questions write them down so you wont forget to ask. I sometimes come out of appts thinking sh*t i meant to ask this and i meant to ask that, last time i went i had my piece of paper and got answers to all my questions and queries and i felt so much better.

Loopi your inducement experience sounds great, i love to hear positive stories. i have only heard all good things about the hypno birthing.

I think been calm and positive has a huge effect mentally. I have to say i have been fine up until now but i'm starting to get a bit panicky and scared but i keep saying to myself PMA and breath properly and i will be fine, my OH has great belief in me and reckons i will be completely fine. He keeps asking what i want him to say to me, he doesn't want to sound patronising, i think the one thing i would like him to remind me is to breath i know that sounds silly of course i will be breathing but i want him to remind me to take long deep breaths.

So CB & Lillbe what shall we do Saturday? CB'S house or Dundrum again? I have a craving for Siam Thai either of you ladies like thai?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 113 ✭✭Caramelbarrel

    Thanks elly....
I agree it seems more useful to leave her in for a few weeks to make the 6 pounds...
Yea, gonna try not to let them stress me out...

Yummmm, Siam Thai sounds like a fab idea...ah good nosh now to feed up baby by Wed!
Happy to go with that. Is that in the Dundrum Centre too?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 507 ✭✭✭elly123

Yeah it's just at the main enterance of the town centre.

If it suits Lilbe we'll go there I can book it 2moro if it suits, shouldn't be an issue especially about 2-2:30ish.

Oh Carmelbarrel I totally understand your disappointment and frustration. Try not to let it get you down and keep hopeful for the scan next Wednesday. Fingers and toes crossed for you. For my inducement I was two cm when they checked me 40 hours after my waters broke so I think my body was doing its thing with no pain - think that is why I responded to the oxytocin so well and it was quick and manageable (intense but not crazy so) and yes Elly123 being reminded to take long deep breaths helps so much as you do forget!!!! I'd no pain relief and no stitches and baba latched on with no problems. I'd very negative feelings for hospitals but don't anymore - I know I was lucky but it is an amazing experience wherever it happens when you meet your wiggling hiccuping bundle of joy for the first time.

Had a luxury spa pedicure this morning - at least pretty toes to greet baba when he or she arrives ;)

Welcome loopy and Congrats. Do you know if its a boy or a girl. Can't believe were nearly there already it went so fast!!
Baby started to laze I think no braxton Hicks today!!! And too much info I know but I've been getting lots more discharge is anyone else? Also baby has dropped.
Carmel how u feeling? Hope your feeling better about the hospital birth :) just think about all the pain relief all there for you :)
Lilbe I hope your section goes well do u have ur date booked? I'm sure all will be fine. I wish I was going for a section no pain ha ha especially going under. I've been under anaesthetics so many times and I'd actually prefer to go under them than be awake lol xx

Caramelbarrel, the main thing is that the baby arrives safely, just think about it, you will be home very soon. I understand how you feel, i'm also for natural birth, and I wanted to do even without painkillers, but now it turns out I need a c section, and definetely anaestetic, well if thats what's required to get the little one here safely, then I will just have to do it I guess. I just have this stupid worry - now that c section is scheduled, the doctor told me that if I have any signs of labour, I need to government to the hospital straight away, and I'm thinking what if I don't recognise contractions? stupid, I know :-)
oh, something funny - going to a wedding tomorrow and bringing my 3 hospital bags with me just in case :-)
Wicklori, pity you can't make it on Saturday. Siam thai suits me very well, their food is delicious!
Oh, girls, what is a sweep?

It's just a procedure where the midwife uses a finger (I think) to loosen the membranes of the cervix. It can sometimes get labour started. I don't think it's a particularly pleasant experience though :(

Happy 1st of march ladies, can you actually believe our month is here!!! Wonder who will be first with the March baby :-)

Guys, thanks so much for being so supportive...
    appreciate it...

Yes, i want baby here safe and sound too...
Well, all I can do is try to stay as relaxed as possible and yes, cross fingers and toes for next Wednesday... praying she grows a bit in a week! then all natural again :-)

    great for Saturday.
2pm in Siam Thai then, fab :-)
    xx

    Happy 1st March Elly!!!!!!!!!!

Yeaaah...... Happy 1st march to you all! Can you actually believe we're nearly there? I think im living in a bubble.

I know we each had different birth plans but please god, all our babies will arrive safely, in full health and without major drama. At this moment in time, that's good enough for me. Bon weekend ladies....enjoy your lunch tomorrow.....

Good Morning Ladies!! Yellow Hen could you have imagined when you started this thread how quickly the time would pass????

Caramel I am so disappointed for you. You poor thing. I can only imagine how you must be feeling. Try to stay on the positive though-healthy baby and Mammy are the most important things, after that the rest is a bonus. You can still use all of your skills and plans just with adaptations.

Still not happy at the prospects of a sweep. Really don't want too much digging around up there until it's really necessary.... Might have to be some early nights this week I think ;-)

I am so gutted I will miss tomorrow. Just too much stuff happening down home and frankly-I'm wrecked so would prefer to be in my own bed tonight....

Still trying to persist with the exercise. Making my gym anxious I think..... Just not as easy as it used to be-nothing is as easy as it used to be!! Not long now though I suppose....

Lillbe-all will be well. You have a great outlook, stay positive. Old Wives Tale says that baby's that are lifted out (i.e. c-section) will always have an easy life!!

So freaking busy trying to get stupid paperwork I stupidly put off doing finished grrrrrrrrr!!!

hey girls, still in hospital, had a c section, which happened to be not scary at all! the baby is just perfect, can't believe I have a real baby! thanks for all your wishes! remember I was saying I was afraid I would not recognise contractions? well, I nearly missed my waters! got up in themorning and realised that my pijama pants are wet, and very embarassed told oh that I probably wetted myself. he was the one that said it was waters, took my bags (all 3 of them!) and rushed to the hospital. c-section was done within a couple of hours, and the baby was here :-) I breastfeed, and suprisingly it works so far - no soreness, the baby seems to know what he is doing.
good luck with your babies, and we should meet when we all have little ones!
