I wonder will they limit bars to selling week spirits? Why is weed always the bogeyman when the far more damaging and addictive drug alcohol gets left alone?

In a lot of countries they do. good luck finding 80% absinthe in any pub in ireland.

Its in plenty of pubs nowadays, there was never a limit no matter what the "bloke in the pub" tells you. Its just not very popular.

There are restrictions on planes due to flammability which in turn lead to myths about it being illegal in some countries.

The celtic whiskey shop on dawson street were sell 90% spirits before.

But again this ban on high THC weed has the opposite effect as limiting alcohol % (which does happen in some countries). If anything they should be banning low strength weed and insisting it must all products must be over 15% THC, for the same health reasons as the light cigarettes.

I still don't think it makes much difference, if you want something strong just buy hash, it's much stronger than any weed.

The problem with any cannabis is you can become accustomed to it no matter how strong it is. You don't end up at a totally inebriated state like you do with alcohol, your body will just adapt to the higher doses and you might as well be smoking the weaker stuff.

I don't think a person that smokes occasionally is going to have the where with all to complain that their weed isn't strong enough, and the chronic smoker is going to see a more noticeable change in highness by switching to another type of weed than they are by smoking more of the same weed.

If a move like this would put the minds of the powers that be at rest (placate them somewhat) so that they'd legalise weed I don't think it's too much of a compromise to ask from the smokers.

Stay away from what? and why?

You also only have to look at medicinal marijuana in the US, where doctors would recommend patients high % THC strains due to the health effects. And recommend vapourisers of course.

I was assuming hash would be banned without question, perhaps not though. Otherwise its like limiting beer to 5% and having 50% whiskey still on sale, maybe they will though, making a further mockery of it all. There was a call for a hash ban before http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/03/01/netherlands-drugs-idUSL5E8E12HN20120301

Can't say that's what I have seen. I have always though it to be very comparable to alcohol in the % sense. I have seen many people with "whities" on weed, and blackouts on alcohol.

Andersom's isn't too bad, I usually sit down stairs and watch the boats go by, Those fcuking lampshades they have though, everytime I bang my head off them when I go to stand up, usually to great amusement to everyone there. I know they're low, I know they're there, yet everytime I stand up - bang

I nearly 100% sure you should be able to buy there, they are not part of the provinces that introduced the weed pass (Zeeland, Nord Barbant and Limburg).

I remember something from last year of them saying they would still sell to tourists. Nijmegen a city close to Arnhem introduced the ban for a while but reversed it when lots of people started dealing on the street. but I haven't been up that way in a while so not completely certain how it worked out in the end but I reckon tourists can buy.

    Edit: good link Lingua

If you're in to the war (WW2) there's a few things to see in Arnhem. If for nightlife, Utrecht is better (IMHO).

I don't know Arnhem really, but I'd agree with Boombastic above. I've never heard of anyone going to Arnhem for the nightlife! And Utrecht is a student town so it's usually pretty lively. When are you coming? I've a bunch of mates coming over next week so I'm about to be looking up things to do anyway.

I live in Utrecht, it's a really lovely city. Not touristy at all but bedecked with canals (and canalside bars and restaurants) and churches and quirky wee shops and very friendly people. Hope you have an amazing time!

I don't see the point of banning higher strength varieties. People will just inhale more burning plant matter smoking the weaker stuff to achieve the same high.

I was in Eindhoven a couple of months ago and was told you couldn't get smoke. I wasn't there for smoking so it didn't bother me. There didn't seem to be an abundance of Coffee shops either.

Was in Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago and people certainly smoke outside, good buzz to be had there. As long as there isn't a complete ban, It's all good imo.
