Wonder what he was like as a Teacher, the put downs must have been brutal
He taught someone who taught me, in 5th year he told us that he was sent to his class with a note from another teacher, he wrote his reply on my teachers forehead and sent him back.

People are always divided when it comes to comedy, but this man was universally loved, thanks for all the good memories of father ted; and they still enlighten to this day

I was in Australia on a year out when he died, can't believe it's so long ago. This is back when you went to Australia for the laugh, not because you were being forced to emigrate due to lack of jobs kids. Sigh...

    Cool story bro

That scene that you talk of had to be reshot 20-30 times ....
Tommy Tiernan said in an interview once, Ardal O Hanlon digged him (Tommy) in the waist at Morgans funeral and whispered "You killed Fr Ted...."

This is that scene that had to be reshot over and over again, tiernan last scene with dermot...the next day ted was dead

RIP. This man made me laugh so much. I found an old Dermot Morgan standup routine and it is hilarious. His CJ is class and his Bertie is amazing and even funnier now than it was back then!

    15 years already?! Damn.

I was only just thinking him and Scrap Saturday would have had a field day with the Banks and co.

A hell of alot better than the pretenders that we have to listen to now. Green Tea? Pha, Mario Rosenstock wtf (who some how managed to make Bertie likeable, though Morgan's Haughey was interesting)

A fine man. RIP to a legend. Can't believe it has been 15 years. Also, I feel sorry for the gobshítes born too young to appreciate how good he was.

    Fr Trendy:
I'm happ , happ, happy with god,
we're like two peas in a pod.......

    or

The glorious , "release the little bollix in D Wing"

    Or

    "Alsation once again"

Anyone remember the apparent contraversial skit where he is dressed like Saddam Hussein singing

"one o'clock, two o'clock, three o'clock, shock, .....we are going to shock around the clock...."

One of my funniest Late Late Show gigs (sadly not on Youtube) was just before the 1997 General Elections, he did his usual imitations of Michael Noonan, Michael Twee, Bertie, Albert, Bruton. Went through the parties posters (one with Bertie and the black backgroud, bit like Gerry Adams' recent ones) and a funny song about Ben Dunne

Noono , doing a Bono calling via satelite , Irleand's war thorn city
"Calling in Limerick", [silence] "They must be at an away fight in Glenamaddy"

After watching that interview I wiki'ed Glenamaddy. Anyone else think the Glenamaddy section on wikipedia is maybe less than impartial?

Did you write this Patrick Connealy?

Haha! We used to play the Holy Rosary College in Glenamaddy quite often in football and it's a **** hole.

Can't believe it's 15 years. I was only 7 but I remember not being allowed to watch it as it was "passed my bed time". Eventually my Mammy let me! :D Young fella in school who fancied me (I know, we were only 8!) would try and impress me with Fr. Ted and Fr. Jack impressions.
