Hippy itchin for a fight, things must be slow tonight if thats the best you could dig up.

Character named after fictional heroin addict and thief, admonishing poster for online moniker. Slow night, indeed.

    Try harder.

If you're going to have the last word, at least make it a good one.

    Try harder.

There hasn't really been a lot about it lately only the Gardai and PSNI appealing for info.

I hope that's because they are being very meticulous and when the arrests come they will be a banker to get convicted. Has there been any movement by the RA around the border against the culprits?

Have you single handedly ruled out that the "RA" aren't involved in this?

I haven't ruled out anyone. I'm not investigating this murder. I asked that question assuming others have heard the rumours that the RA were supposed to be making a move on the culprits for dragging the 'Heat' down on them.

There are rumours that criminals within the locality are upset about the heightened Garda presence. Correct.

For one to say that one of these groups would be the IRA would be an exhoneration of them. It should not be forgotten that the IRA are no strangers to murder and certainly not when it comes to innocent Gardai. Perhaps I did however read your post in an incorrect tone.

Certainly that link supports the irony.

The papers have been telling us that an arrest has been imminent from the off. It's also a good way of reducing potential "heat" on yourself.

Don't be fooled by what papers print. They want to make a sale after all.

Exactly this. Bloody papers only want to make lurid headlines on the back of this. Can't believe a word they say.

When the papers stated their version of the events on the night, ambush, car blocking exit etc, everyone was happy to accept these as fact. It seemed nobody was questioning the possibility of dramatization by the papers for the purpose of selling copies then.

    Why question it now?

Excuse me Mark but your use of the words everyone and nobody confuse me somewhat.

Where have I accepted what the papers have told me here?

It's the difference between claims based on witness accounts and claims based on super secret "sources". The first is much more believable than the second.

Gardai are the ones that said it appeared to be an ambush style attack, it wasn't unfounded speculation by the media.

Appeared to be. Which was then defended as fact on this thread.

Apparently that depends on what u want to believe.

One account is possibly an overdramatized account of events given by a traumatized gaurd immediately after the trauma.

The other may be thoroughly researched and investigated with due time.

Depends what way you look at it. I just wanted to note the irony.

I don't know if your trying to be condescending here but thanks for the advice that I received from my father when I was about 10. It is a discussion forum so I suppose we are all speculating and basing our speculation on what we are told by the media. When the culprits are caught and convicted we will know for sure who did it.

Catch yourself on lad. I was discussing the topic with you. The tone was polite. If you choose to take offence from such trivial statements that isn't my problem.

No offence taken. As you have stated it was in a polite tone. I still can't understand your point that "For one to say that one of these groups would be the IRA would be an exhoneration of them". That's what the media have reported. I'm sure I read somewhere that the PSNI have warned the suspects of the potential threat north of the border as they are legally obliged to do so.
