Does anyone have any recent wedding experience of this place? Looking around at wedding venues at the moment, and this is on the list. Have a few other places to look, but was really impressed by staff, and what they have to offer, in terms of package, etc.
however, am kind of doubtful, because a lot of the hotel is very dated. The rooms made me wonder if I'd stepped into a time machine...
I've a few other places to look at in the area (cahir house, raheen, clonmel park). but I'd appreciate any recent feedback!

To be honest, it'd be the best out of the ones you're looking at. Have you thought of Ballykisteen/Glen of Aherlow?

Glen of aherlow is nice, but it's just too out of the way. I hate that road! Have thought about balltkisteen, and might go see it if none of the others suit.

I'd love to see Cahir House get the business though.
Raheen, IMO is overpriced and food very hit or miss, also tough to get atmosphere going.
Park Hotel is just a cookie cutter wedding but I was at their wedding fair last week, function room is better than I expected and would be handy for accommodation for guests.
Do you have a budget in mind? there's always Kilshane House if you're minted!!!

We have a budget, and kilshane is definitely not going to be an option! I don't think well be going for the whole big sit down traditional wedding affair- so the staff where we go need to be on our wavelength with that! That's probably the most important thing really!

We got married in Kilcoran in July 2011. Had an amazing weekend there. Room looked great, staff really helpful. Jacqueline (general manager) a legend - great person to deal with. We looked at lots of places in South Tipp and it came down to Aherlow or Kilcoran. Glad we went for Kilcoran - couldn't recommend it highly enough. It's a kind of dated, quirky place alright, but that added to the occasion.
I'm dappy to answer any questions you have about the place!

Tipp is kind of limited when it comes to quirky places really. There's always the Minella but doubt it would be your thing from reading above. How far away are you willing to go?

I looked at minella, and unfortunately, my kind of wedding wasn't THEIR thing... The owner was so rude anyhow, that I wouldn't even consider it, even if they were capable of thinking outside the box

    Tossers! That's so stupid!
As if they can turn away business.
I wouldn't go there in a fit for my own wedding
Is it a 'pig on a spit' kind of vibe you want?

I have been at weddings in both the Park hotel and Kilcoran and the food at both was amazing...dont know anything about the organising side of things though as I was aguest at both. Park hotel is fantastic when you get inside (pity about the location though).

kilcoran for me, fantastic place and food, also one can haggle with them, my eldest got married there a few years ago, not one complaint, they could not vdo enough to help, we had over 300 and no complaint, now that took some doing, yes kilcoran rocks.

I suppose so- just something a bit more relaxed. I'm not really sure what works best you see, that's why I need a decent wedding coordinater to help!

That's so positive! It's been taken over recently enough, but it seems as though the new management are just as good as what went before them!

best in Clonmel is the Park, St. Patrick's Well just down the road for a location photo shoot (weather permitting) if not the hotel has no such facilities, Cahir house is pretty ok too some nice locations out the back of the hotel and a little bit down the track at the back opens on to the castle as a backdrop.
Kilcoran is a nice place, good location lovely scenery etc.
ballykisteen is great for food and has some of the best scenery anywhere.

I just booked our venue last week in Killaloe and I'm from Bansha - its called Annacarriga, you should check out the website. Kilcoran is a little old fashioned I agree, Cahir House would be a better option I think.

Thanks for the suggestion. Looked at the website- it looks fab. It's a bit far away from us though!
