Not this again. It's pretty clear if you have been viewing the gallery that he appears to be working for the contractors/Translink, presumably to document the relay process for posterity.

Some great pics of the ballast trains. It's been a few years since I done that route. Nice to see it documented.

075 or 085 failed between Waterford and Ballyhale this morning, think it departed Waterford at 11.15 and was heading for Ballina. Blocked the line for some time and I think a loco was required from Dublin as nothing spare in Waterford.

The loco in question was 086 which was rescued by 083.They are seen here in Athy around 5:15 this evening with the empty timber train. They didn't leave Athy until just before 6:30pm

This is probably a "how long is a piece of string question", does anyone know what happened? I remember one failing in the late 70's when it was very new. An electrical failure, the driver told me the engine was revving flat out with progress getting slower and slower until it finally ground to a halt. No radio sets in those days he had to walk to a house and phone the station,it was like something from the 19th century!! It got towed back to Inchicore by an A Class.

Do you know if there was a another replacement at Kildare and those two ran to Dublin.

Could of being anything, I drove past it and it was crawling before it came to a stop, would of loved to seen it try going through Thomastwon as it needs to be in top form to be able to and the hill is quiet a struggle for those 22000.
