Lyons, Punjana or Typhoo for me. My grandfather always said that Barry's was Blueshirt Tay. Lived to 89 and drank about 6 mugs a day.

Yeah, but for the last 17 years they've been british owned, operated and produced, so eh, I'll stick to the barry's, cheers.

Technically, Unilever is Anglo-Dutch - with the food division generally managed from Holland, and the detergent/personal care division managed from the UK.

The main factory in Goldenbridge, Dublin was operated up until 2002 and then transferred to the adjacent Knorr factory. It was finally closed down around 2005/6.

You may find that many perceived Irish companies are part of multinationals nowadays.

You may also reflect on the fact that no tea is grown Ireland, only blending and packing happens here. The vast majority of the labour in producing tea happens abroad.

Enough!...Barry's tea is clearly the superier tea here , I love it's golden texture, it's warm flavour...it's a man's tea and it doesn't need so many ad's on TV to convince us , it knows it's the superier brand. You'll only find Barry's tea in my house , Lyons is banned....so let's have it....

    Barrys....

    VS

    Lyons.....:D

If one likes to have sleepless nights, then of course Barrys tea is the best choice. I prefer Lyons or PGs Tea.

McGrath's Tea in Aldi is very nice.

For years I was purely a Barry's tea drinker now it's McGrath s too
Can hardly tell difference also it's way cheaper too

Lyons all the way......Barrys tea bags are manufactured in Manchester UK
    Other way around!!!!

Lyons Tea is owned by Unilever and produced in their PG Tips factory in Manchester. They actually took over and closed the factory here. Those ads featuring a tea factory populated by Irish sounding workers are partially designed to fool you into thinking they're an Irish product.

Likewise they owned the HP Ice Cream factory here, closed it and transferred much of production overseas. That's the way large food conglomerates operate.

McGrath's tea in Aldi is Robert Roberts tea repackaged.

It's a different blend altogether, not just a repackaging.

Same as the O'Shea's stout's and ales are produced by Carlow Brewing Company but are not the same beers as the O'Hara's range.

Was always a Lyons girl, then I was drinking bewleys gold blend in work so started buying them, but now I only buy Barrys. There's lyons in our house too so sometimes I end up with that and it's much weaker.

So - in short - Barrys Gold Blend.

Oh, and if we're back to Lyons v Barrys already - King v Tayto must be due soon so King please. And Heinz ketchup.

I did a taste test of gold blend Barry's and gold blend Lyons recently. Lyons came out trumps for me.

I only lasted one box of Barry's. it tastes cheap and that aftertaste is mank

Lyons, but also cheap tea. Drink Aldi's McGrath's tea, I like it. Barrys, bleurgh. Bewleys, Twinnings, Punjana, Tetley, and Yorkshire are all good too.
