Sim adapters - share your experiences?

I bought a sim adapter on ebay, so that I could put my micro sim into my old phone. However the sim (micro sim inside adapter) got stuck in the old phone, and it was quite an effort to drag it out. Now, my old phone won't recognise any sim cards. It just says "No Sim."

Don't ask, but this has now happened to two of my phones. I wouldn't mind but the eBay seller has 100% feedback score.

Anyone think the old phones could be salvageable? Or have I damaged the sim area too much? :-/

Why would you buy one when you can get one for free from a phone shop?

OT: They're bloody annoying.

I did this with a Nokia N86 once, ended up breaking the pins inside the SIM slot and had to replace the SIM slot board. Thankfully it was a separate board to the motherboard so it was fixable.

Jaysus. I feel like I've done something similar, too. Gonna get out a micro screw driver tomorrow and have a look.

Which shops?

O2 shops do it, as do Vodafone I believe.

It probably helps to be with the network, but they'll often give you one if they have a spare.

I would'nt buy any of those 3rd party adapters. The edges of the holder can get caught on the little nodes that have contact with the gold part of the simcard. If you pull with any force you can displace those nodes and they will not subsequently read any card.

That looks like a really bad design having the clips on the face of the sim it bound to get stuck if your old phone has a slide in sim. I find the ones like in this photo the best as it holds the back of the sim and leaves the face free. They were given away with the samsung s2
