it was the same brain-freeze effect you get if you stuff an entire bowl full of ice-cream into your mouth in one go.
I think we need a "white ice" thread for this ...

Ice of all colour is equal in the eyes of god, let's have no separate threads here! :pac:

Not bad in my area, about 2 degree above freezing. Lovely, fresh, cool and dry morning.

At 7:30, Maynooth: -3, Dublin: +3 - very dry and no sign of ice, not so much traffic either

The worst I could see was around Bray, Leopardstown and Stepaside.

Dry as a bone on the old N2 from Ashbourne, and in the city centre of course, plenty of traffic though! Another cracker of a day to be out on the bike!

When you start work in the middle of the day, the roads probably wont be too bad

Anyone know what road conditions are like in Clare. Or any sites that give indications of ice etc. The usual met and AA are fairly scant on info.

Check out the NRAs website, they provide live info on road temperatures around the country, of course only of use if roads you plan on riding are equipped.

Was out with a section of the Swords Sat spin and we went over snowtown in a blizzard. Only way we could find our way up was to follow the tracks in the snow.*

    *
May not be technically true but it was snowing for most of the spin.

Didn't go as far as the Sallygap in the end. Cruagh end of Pine Forest road and around Kiltiernan both had a blanket of half an inch, so I bailed. I'll post a pic in a bit. Currently in the bath.

Can confirm this, if it wasn't for the Sherpa's we came accross would probably still be out there

My Sunday spin up the gap tomorrow is looking pretty screwed so. Might risk the hybrid up Kilmashogue woods.

It was cycle-able really, but I wouldn't risk the Sallygap. Also, slow-moving cars made the spin less pleasant - too dangerous to overtake, so stuck plodding along behind.

I have learned how to stay warm in snow though - socks, overshoes, bib tights, two base layers, jersey, winter jacket, two pairs of gloves, buff, cycling cap, helmet, and go up Cruagh a few times - you'll be warm then!!

No need to post pics of you bathing thanks very much. :)

Had planned a spin up Kilmashogue, Ticknock and Glassamucky. Will these be icy/snowy in the morning do ye think?

I'm there now. Rugby on the telly. Doing my stretches. You should really tidy up your living room though.

Snow has stuck outside my house, Dublin 16 and at an elevation of around 100m. About 20mm of snow on top of my car, but it has stuck on the grass too (but not on the very wet roads). It's currently reading 0.7C here. Based on that there is a good chance that anything higher will be snowy and/or icy tomorrow.
