Regardless of the idiots with their songs, when has there ever been a commentator apologising for swearing by players/management ? :D

He is apologising because there have been complaints and he was told to.
Sorry mate there can be no excuses for those idiots. Following up that stupid banner they had last week with this is showing them up for what they are wee neds

Listen, we all know you really, really dislike the Union Bears, but again: You have absolutely no proof that it's either them or The Blue Order.

It's a small pocket of people (not even gonna call them fans) that have persisted with it all through the game, give me any reason why those two groups who have been at the forefront of bringing only Rangers songs to games would change their attitude ?

I believe it's just a group of neds who think they can do what they want, because we're playing in England.

Really you actually believe they only sing Rangers songs at games stop deluding yourself mate people I know who never miss a game have been talking about them for ages. As for me not liking them that has feck all to do with it either that or I can say the fact that you do like them so you have blinkers on silly silly point

Yes, those two groups have been at the forefront of bringing new songs to the games, away from stuff like The Billy Boys etc.

No, they don't only sing Rangers songs, but neither should they.
They've been a big part in cleaning up our act, so there is no reason why all of a sudden they should change their approach.

Again:There is no proof it was either of them.

If you believe that you are really naive. They are in the huff and are trying to be the big. Jesus they even tried to backtrack on that banner last week saying it wasn't theirs. Utter nonsense from idiots

Do you guys have any grey-area songs? Like we have songs that some fans would debate over, some saying they're bad because they're Republican but others saying since they're not glorifying killing of anyone or promoting violence or targeting a religion etc that they're fair game.

Obviously your Famine Songs, Billy Boys, The Sash etc are clearly not on but do you have a similar issue as above with other songs? Derrys Walls might be one.

The Sash is exactly one of those grey area songs.
It has nothing sectarian in it, but it also doesn't have anything to do with football or Rangers.

    Same for Derry's Walls yes.

I think the Orange Order are pretty sectarian, maybe that's a matter of opinion though.

I see that ESPN actually talked about it on air. Was it really worse than usual? I remember when Rat Nevin told the BBC cameras we were singing sectarian songs because the fans were singing Soldiers Song. Never did get an apology from the BBC :pac:

They were apparently talking about the swearing from players and managers (move the mic's then ?).

Don't think it was just for swearing etc. Though in fairness most of the rangers fans here are disgusted by some of the fans today.

The club itself said it was chanting. Sure I doubt cheeky chappy Ally has ever said a swear word in his life.

What did he say to Lenny that time?

Nothing, he tried to give him a peck on the cheek and violent bigot Neil Lennon went into a snarling homophobic rage. The infallible SFA correctly identified this when they let the former off without charge while banning Lennon :)

Back on topic what were the offensive chants, saw bits of the match but wasn't really paying attention. Bit disappointed with mc coists half arsed condemning of the chanting,

Not talking about those songs though the add ons are not welcome both those songs have been found non sectarian in a court of law. But No Pope of Rome plus various other add ons are

Sure he didn't hear them  not sure what would be more embarrassing, your manager bare faced lying to defend bigotry or your fans not being heard in a 4000 capacity stadium :p

Actually he said he'd keep it for his autobiography. There'll be a lot of people nipping into WHSmith and flicking to the back pages.

Lenny has said he will reveal it some day, he might put it in a buke sometime.

As for some of the Rangers fans singing sectarian songs, sure it's one of the only ways they get a bit of attention these days. Bad publicity is better than no publicity and all that.

Yes I heard him say that too.

    from sky sports site

Manager Ally McCoist said after the game: "I didn't know anything about it until I came in. Our supporters have been nothing short of sensational home and away this season. If they were a little bit out of order today, I apologise.

Pathetic from super ally, is he afraid of the fans or does he support what they do?What were the chants anyway?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

He was managing his team and had other things on his mind, it's not his place to comment on them (the club's statement did that pretty well).

And even claiming that he supports the songs, are you serious ?
Did you miss the several times in the past where Ally has said that it has to stop ?

Sounds like an excuse to be fair.

I'm sure it does, if you want it to be.
