As a standard DVD/HDD recorder, she'll work fine.

She won't run Saorview though, as it's just SD freeview, which runs on DVB-T/MPEG2.

Is there any problem connecting this recorder through the Sagem box?

Does it have a Scart socket?

I get confused trying to connect the UPC Sagem box, the Recorder and the TV.

I bought a recorder last week only to find that it would not play DVDs.

    It had no disc tray.

It recorded only to the hard drive.

    I returned it!

    Thanks

    Pat

The specs says it is Freeview plus or as advertised Freeview+. Therefore it should work with the Saorview package though it probably is not Saorview approved.I have the Panasonic 720 and it is a great machine.Phone the Panasonic store in Limerick and they can answer all your questions and probably match the price. The guarantee on these products are worth thinking about. Thanks for your reply.

I got in touch with Panasonic in Limerick. The 720 was too expensive for me and did more than I needed.

    Take care

A Freeview + machine has not got an Mpeg4 tuner so cannot record Saorview via the tuner. Could record Saorview via the scart input of course but a bit cumbersome. Freeview HD machines generally work with Saorview albeit with some minor limitations.

The "+" in "Freeview+" signifies recording/timeshifting ability, as in "Sky+". It has nothing to do with the video decoding capabilities of the receiver in question.
