Fly from Ireland to Norwich

I was hoping to fly to an airport near Great Yarmouth with Ryanair or some other low cost airline. Norwich seems to be the nearest airport. There does not seem to be any flights from Ireland to Norwich. I have done the usual searches on the net but to no avail. I would appreciate it if someone who has made this trip successfully would give me the benefit of their experience. I am not fussy as to which airport I fly from because I live in the midlands.

There are no flights from Ireland to Norwich at the moment, so you'll end up flying and using coaches/rail to your destination

It looks like flying to Stansted may be your least inconvenient route. You can get the train to Norwich with one change at Ely - about 2 hours end to end.

Another option might be to fly to Southend with Aer Lingus and get the train from there. There's a station at the airport as far as I know.

You will at least avoid changing stations in London (which can be a bit of a drag and take surprisingly long, especially at rush hour with the billions of people milling everywhere) with these two options.

Have a look at the route map here to see some train options - http://www.greateranglia.co.uk/travel-information/journey-planning/network-map

From a very quick look on www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk for train prices and times, it looks like Southend would be the better option, lots of £8 single fares and frequent services.

Just be aware that if you're travelling back on a Sunday there may be replacement bus services instead.
