I don't really have any role models, but if I could one day reach even a tenth of the awesomeness that Bill Murray possesses, I'd be pretty happy.

I hate people put a sports person as they're role model. Generally they have an amazing ability 99.999% of us don't have.

Whereas someone like warren buffet, Michael bloomberg( mayor of NYC plus worth $20 billion) and Carlos slims. Have worked hard for their wealth often gaining skills in college and employment. Something all of us can do.

Even through money isn't everything and these people show it. Warren buffet lives in a $500,000 house, rides the subway and used to fly economy but stop because he was constantly asked for share tips.

These people show with hard work anything is possible.

For every Pele, Maradona, Messi etc, ie. a sports person of prodigious talent, you have players with probably a third of their ability who compete at a high level due to training and dedication.

Very poor example of this and I wish I could think of a better one atm, but Gary Neville I believe, said himself that he knew the players in the team and those he played against were much better than him. He kept himself in the picture through determination and sheer bloody mindedness to succeed.

I'm filling out a serious questionnaire and I have to put down my "major role models" but I'm drawing a bit of a blank. So far I've put down Roy Keane but I'm not even sure about that after all the troubles.

Have I just not had any role models for the last thirty years or so? Does everyone else have role models? If so, who are they?

    Adolf Hitler (for some reasons)
    Margaret Thatcher
    Michael O'Leary
    Michael Collins
(I know 2 and four are conflicting, please DON'T point it out).
    Richard Branson

I actually disagree with that statement, most of the people you are talking about, didn't actually finish any education they where on, be self educated is different to being educated.

I know nothing of sports but I assume that to be the best in a area of sports, you need believe in yourself and to make that believe work for you.

There you go you now have the secret, it works equally well for anyone to achieve anything, all you have to do is believe (want) and believe you can. You will be surprised how far you will go, there is another rule as well, but I'm not telling you, awww I might please thank please :D

My grandad. Growing up, he was the single biggest influence on me wanting to pursue a career in journalism. Many years later, he still makes sure that my mam sends him over clippings of my work. To this day, I've never met a more kind and intelligent and witty human being. He became very ill before Christmas and we were fearing the worst. His mind isn't what it used to be as a result, and he'll live out the remainder of his life in a nursing home, but if I live even half the life he's experienced, I'll be very content with my lot.

    David Attenborough.

Have watched his shows since I was kid and has probably been the biggest factor in me wanting to know more about the planet and species that live on it. I definitely wouldn't know as much about the natural world if it weren't for him.
