Was looking for reviews online too, sounds like a nice piece of kit, as long as it doesn't get all crazy greasy or smelly around it, I think I'd be up for one.

Oven chips seem to be hit and miss these days.

I bought one from last time its ideal for 2 people.Heats up very quickly.It's a good buy for us.Hope this helps

Its 1.5L. My 2L one will do chips for 3 people so I would imagine so.

Cheers - I looked at it yesterday and the basket looks tiny. Went to Harvey Norman and cheapest one is 36 or so

bought one yesterday and even though the basket looks tiny it does enough chips for 2 people, however there was only one left in Sandyford

They have stacks of these in Aldi Fonthill (beside Liffey Valley) but it looks tiny. There is no way it would be big enough for 2 in our house, unless is was 2 of the kids!

I like the fact that its tiny. perfect for doing small amounts of tempura, fish and other things.

This is back again in Aldi stores this coming Thursday at €19.99 each. Black, silver and red colour variants.

Most likely will pick one up, looks pretty good. And you can't beat that 3 year warranty!

We have one from two years ago. Works great.

Quick question. The outside is pretty manky with chunked on grease. Any tips for cleaning this? Won't come off work a cloth. Maybe vinegar or something?

In my experience you'd be better off binning it and getting the new one.
For €20 it's not worth the time and effort to clean the bugger.

I'd a lidl variation before. It's handy if you've a big kitchen but my advice is get yourself a good pot and an oil thermometer and just use that. If you've gas and worried about fires put the money into a stand alone induction hob. It's a lot easier to clean and you can decide how big or small your batches are. Also everything I described can be used for other things than frying. It'll be the way I go when the current fryer dies.

Saw that. Would that just have a standard year warranty?

I think the smaller Aldi one would be handier for me as I can use much less oil to fill it up.

This will clean anything.

I know you can get it in Musgrave's here but not sure about other stockists. 5 litres would last years but there's a smaller size.

I have cleaned stuff by rubbing undiluted fairy liquid onto it and covering with damp J-cloths or damp thick kitchen towels, in a plastic bag with a little water in the bottom and leave it sit for days. This should stop it drying out so is like steeping it in really strong fairy solution.

I got tiny fryer in powercity for about €15 or €17

got black one, works well, done 2 baskets of chips ,done two people as i didnt overpack in case in couldnt cope, cooked really quickly less then 5 minutes, grand

I bought the silver model on Thursday.

I must say, I am impressed so far with it. Oil heats up fast, and cooks anything I've thrown in it very well... including my homemade sweet potato fries - YUM!

For €20 with a 3 year warranty, its a no-brainer.

Only problem is cleaning the bastard!

Just used this for the first time today. Seems to produce a lot of steam, but more importantly the steam pours out through the small handle and makes the handle too hot to use without a cloth.:( I think this will be going back.

Anyone else have this problem.
