And I'm the weirdo

So there I was going home on the luas Sunday evening when a woman about my own age sat down beside me. She took out her phone anyway and was texting away. After about 5mins I could see tears in her eyes and asked her what was wrong. She just looked at me and didn't answer. The crying was getting worse now so I said it again and she continued to ignore me. The poor girl was quite hysterical at this stage so I patted her on the back to let her know everything was going to be ok and she sort of smiled at me, but still said nothing. Then she put her headphones in and I popped them out of her head for a second to talk again and she screamed out so that the whole luas could hear, "get off me you weirdo". The stares I then got off everyone was scary. I had to get off at the next stop because I actually thought a mod was going to form.
You try to be nice and almost get killed in this country. In the states I would have been normal, but here I'm seen as a weirdo. I mean what's the problem with people!

So that's where mods come from!

Wait, I thought mods were formed when a mummy mod and a daddy mod loved each other very much and gave each other a special hug.

You were doing fine till you patted her on the back and took the headphones out of her ears dude.

Seriously that's a fairly weird invasion of privacy to be doing there.

Yeah, you went way too familiar there!

that IS pretty ****ing weird to be honest, you wouldn't take a hint that she didn't want to talk to you, and you were patting her on the back and then yoinked her earphones out? I'd have let out a yell to get off me ya weirdo too!

I know you where only trying to be nice but honestly it was none of your business why she upset or crying.

You ask her once was she OK - which is fine. But to go on and ask her a second time and pull her ear phones out is a bit much and "weird" tbh.

Oh and I think you have pretty conclusive proof that you are in fact the weirdo ;)

in fairness nobody likes licking headphones

Why wouldn't you just tap her on the shoulder if you wanted her attention?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,533 ✭✭✭the keen edge

To be fair, removing some strangers earphones because you want to talk to them is a bit of a weird act.

What next, take of her bra to have a look at her tits?

Where do you draw the line?

It's weird for her to have been crying hysterically in public though. Crying, fair enough - but crying hysterically? Obviously someone was going to start giving her the attention she was looking for.

Yes, taking off her bra just to look at her tits can clearly be compared to lifting a sobbing woman's ear-phones to ask if she wants help.

Yeah, might be a bit harsh to call you a weirdo as you intentions were good, but you did go to far. After asking was she okay the first time, you should have just assumed she didn't want to talk about it unless of course you believed she was in danger (whether from herself or other people). When she put her earphones in, this only confirmed she did not want to talk.

Sorry Teddy, taking the earphones out was a bad move. While shouting at you wasn't very nice, you are a weirdo.

Sorry, going near her headphones was weird behaviour. Did you try and wipe the tears from her eyes too?

We only have the word of a headphone tugger that she was actually hysterical.

so I patted her on the back to let her know everything was going to be ok

You used your penis, didn't you.

Way too overly familiar there dude.
That would not have been normal behavior in the states either.

The first time you made contact was nice the second and third = weirdo

Just tell the truth. You were having a sneaky sniff of her hair and you knocked one of her earphones out with your nose. We're all friends here, you can tell us. It happens to the best of us.

???????? Crying hysterically = looking for attention?

I would bet she wasn't looking for attention. Perhaps a relative had just died, bad news at the hospital? Could have been anything. Doesn't mean she was obliged to share it with a stranger. It was nice of OP to ask, but that should have been that. If some stranger took headphones out of my ears, I'd most definitely call them a weirdo as well. Total invasion of privacy, going WAY too far.

It's odd that two weirdoes on public transport end up sitting next to each other, and don't sit next to normal people to put the sh1ts up them like they usually do.

Slightly odd taking out her headphones.Would you have done all this if it was a bloke instead of a girl?

Even going by the one sided Teddytedson version it sounds weird. I want the girls version. There's probably something else that you "popped out" that you're not telling us.
