Eircom Email - Problems sending messages

I've had to reinstall Microsoft Office and I cannot get Outlook to send email messages - I have no problem receiving messages.

When I first installed Outlook a month ago, I had the same problem, but I cannot remember how I fixed it!

I've tried various send/receive settings in Outlook, and when I click Test, they all seem to work.

    The settings I have are:

    Account Type: POP 3
    Incoming mail server: mail1.eircom.net
    Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail2.eircom.net

If I go online, I have no problem sending email via Eircom webmail.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

    Thanks.

    D.

    Is Eircom your broadband provider?

If not you will have to use the outbound smtp of your broadband provider

    Ballyv24,

    No. UPC is.

Any idea what their outgoing SMTP is?

    Many thanks.

No worries. I had the same issue lately so it was fresh in my head.

    Sorted.

For the record (and just in case I ever have to do this again!) when I returned to the download site, I noticed that the fourth driver down on the list was a "Universal Print Driver" and Windows 8 was listed next to it.

    Working like a charm!

    Thanks for your help.

    it should be

    E-mail settings:
    Mail server type: POP3
    Incoming mail server: webmail.eircom.net

Outgoing mail server type : SMTP

    Outgoing mail server*: mail1.eircom.net

    it should be

    Outgoing mail server*: mail1.eircom.net

Not if you're with UPC, it shouldn't be.

Eircom servers do not accept connections other than their own.
