That's the worst thing about using a bit too much porn, it fecks your imagination.

Just dip into your spankbank bank every now and again and you're sorted. No need to go limiting yourself cos that's just crazy talk :P

It's not going to happen, so no. It's a small, albeit varied group of people who are in favor of banning it.

Are you being sarcastic? Which is more backward.. a silly idea backed by a minority of politicians to ban internet porn, or the failure of successive governments over the course of two decades to introduce legislation regarding abortion? It's been legal in Iceland since 1975!

    I dunno, Iceland?

It's nice they have abortion. I am pro choice. However if its a woman's right to do what she wants with her body......

I'll leave the rest as an exercise to the user.

Yup, it's depicted in the bio-pic "Anna's Sexy Moon Adventures".

These Nordic countries have made prostitution ( not just solicitation) illegal for both parties. Obviously if you do that legal porn - which is prostitution with a camera - is an anomaly.

The conservative backlash against the sexual revolution is coming from the left.

probably because the left has always been concerned with people f*cking each other over.

    Do you like fish sticks?

So you're a gay fish then?

    Slightly NSFW (Audio)

Yeah but it's not the same.

Even before we had streaming videos, there needed to be pics
    (anyone remember downloading pics?)

even before downloading pics there was the Roches Stores catelogue.

The swimwear pages were always stuck together in our house.

It wont work. Theyre is always ways around bans. Take the Chinese government firewall that blocks sites like nytimes, facebook, YouTube and pretty much every popular site in the west

But people are still able to get around it with free software called a VPN. Likewise I heard new York times paid up to $40 million for a pay wall that you can avoid by using private browsing on google chrome.

Another policy thats good on paper. But never works in reality

The paywall put in place by the New York Times has been very successful. The objective of the paywall is to make money, not to ensure that no one, anywhere can read content for free.

Well they have had something like three Miss World winners, which makes them the most beautiful country per head of population - 1 Miss World for every 50,000 women.

Why are they worried about children seeing porn? It's very unlikely that they'll find it if they're not looking for it. There might be a few graphic ads on non-pornographic sites, but they're easily blocked. In general if you don't visit pornographic sites you just won't see porn.

Kid: "I swear I don't know how that porn got there Mom, I was just reading about my favourite cartoon characters and this video suddenly popped up."
Mother: "Internet pornography is attacking my children!!!11"
Must be how it happens. ^

In my day you'd have to **** off without knowing what a vagina even looked like "Is it like a hole on the front? Or is it smooth like action man?".

Internet porn in the 11th century.

(not safe for work but fine for academic study!)

There's got to be real people putting this proposal forward.
Combine that with rule 34 of the internet = ironic.

Maybe they should ban movies too that have nudity , or violence or even a bad guy. Wouldnt want television to corrupt the youth and become.the bad.guys themselves.
    Banning porn will never happen

Publishing porn is already banned there so its not that insane really.

Not as liberal a society as ye might think. No strip clubs for instance.

I wouldn't agree with that, I consider myself left wing and I support absolute freedom of speech and the de-tabooing of sexuality, unlike the right which includes a lot of religious nuts who think they have a right to stuff 'family values' down everyone's throat...

This why defining everything in terms of left/right is so foolish. As someone who would be defined as "left wing", I am a staunch believer in social freedom in every walk of life. Censorship is not a left wing policy - it's the conservative right that are constantly attacking free speech.

Probably going to raise some eyebrows with this but tbh I'm far more likely to fantasize about being with girls I know and fancy in real life whilst having one ;)

Porn comes second to that for sure. It's a much bigger turn on to find written erotica, since in your head you can picture whoever you want as the characters.

I have an extremely vivid visual and auditory imagination though, I can literally play movies scene by scene in my head with nothing out of place, so maybe I just find that a lot easier than others? I know there's apparently an actual difference whereby some people use visual, mental images for their imagination and some just don't have that visual element when they think of things. Maybe that's why some prefer mental fantasy and others prefer videos etc?

Talking with my friends I'd say imagination tends to be the favourite method of... eh... well... y'know... patting the pete...?

I only brought the "left" into it because Duggy's Housemate remarked on Scandinavian policies against prostitution and, as he saw it, the rolling back of the sexual revolution.

I'm not left-wing, but I'm certainly not right wing either. I agree with you on defending free speech, but I think some left-wing people are very censorious too.

I think porn has, in some ways, "re-tabooed" some aspects of sexuality -e.g body image, skewed notions of sexual appetites and availability. I'm not for banning it, (ideology aside, it'd be a hopeless task) but it depresses the last drops of libido out of me to think that the "sexual revolution" means I am free to watch other women being f*cked and judged on their ability to please men.

If this is true, Public outrage would surely erupt.

Well you're free not to watch it too
As are the icelanders, as long as they just don't ban it for the rest of us
