Reading Merchant of Venice and came across some lines which seem inexplicable and was wondering if there is or has been a thread on such matters.Where would I find it? It would be interesting to share ideas.

One of many examples: MoV: Act 1 Sc 1 line 101-103

But fish not, with this melancholy bait,
For this fool gudgeon, this opinion.-
    Come good Lorenzo.-

Can this be paraphrased? Am particularly interested how the words 'this opinion' fits in. Which text is best for this kind of understanding?
    Thanks.
