unless your gf is a some sort of nerd writer or novelist this 200 euro will be wasted, buy her jewellery and e-mail her would be my advice :)

I got a complaint letter sent in to work the other day written on a grease-stained brown paper bag. I reckon that option could never fail you!

EDIT - also it's stationery not stationary (which means not moving) - that gets on my nerves. I may need to post it in the trivial things that annoy you thread!

OK, well then you're going to need this-

And because it's 100GSM, it's quite thick, so one of these will be necessary-

An extra tip is to use a heavy lined sheet behind the paper so your writing looks neat and stays in straight lines.

Going out of my way this morning :pac:

I don't know where this thread belongs. Absolutely no idea tbh.

You posted it in After Hours - most likely without reading the charter, but to summarise; you will get a mix of total pisstake answers here, and some serious/good answers. If you aren't happy to have your post laughed at a little then it doesn't belong in this forum and I will lock it for you, just let me know.

It is nice you are putting so much thought into this. But imo 200 is crazy money for paper...

OP, unless you're buying tonnes of paper there's absolutely no need to budget that much!! Take a trip in to Daintree on Camden street if you're in Dublin, they've gorgeous paper in there- it's their specialty.

Where in the country are you based?

Break into their house and write your love message all over their walls in your own blood. This will show without doubt how much you love them.

1 - get an old typewriter. Make sure it is a very popular version (or at least used to be). Pay cash.
2 - Type their name and address on a non descript envelope.
3 - Using a variety of magazines, flyers, newspapers etc cut out individual words to make the sentences. The bigger variety of typefaces used the better overall impression. Try to get a mix a backgrounds to the words as well as this will enhance the visual experience.
4 - After placing the finished letter in the envelope, seal the envelope. Either use a self seal envelope of use a sponge. Under no circumstances lick the envelope.
5 - Buy a stamp, or even better take a stamp from a book of stamps belonging to someone else. Ensure that they are not special edition stamps (Christmas, World Cup etc).
6 - Make sure to post the envelope in a random postbox, but importantly no where close to any location that can be linked to you (the area you live, work, parents are from etc).
7 - Probably goes without saying that gloves should be worn during each phase. Unlikely that it will ever get to that point but one can never be too sure. One overeager cop and.....
8 - for the added special touch, maybe include a picture or her(him?) in the letter made up from a composite of pictures taken from numerous publications.
9 - Maybe mention that the night vision goggles are uncomfortable but if means you get to spend more time 'together' then it's worth it!

    OP, I used to do a bit of calligraphy, just my two cents;

The problem as I see it is that if you want to get a visually appealing paper or card it's probably going to be textured (like the grain on watercolour paper) so it will make the actual writing difficult, I've never personally come across a "really nice paper" in that respect that would be appropriate for any kind of calligraphy.

Another option available to you is to treat some standard paper by staining it or something, maybe you could buy pre-treated paper (never seen this on sale, but I'm sure it's available).

One thing that would be really cool would be to get your text designed by a professional artist and get it printed on a fabric like linen or some other textured fabric.

Bottom line, if you want it hand written, textured, in other words nice paper, isn't really an option. Better off to get it printed on something of good quality.

This. But for your own sake, keep it short and to the point.
