Pretty sure the driver took a wrong turn so shouldn't have been going down that road.

Yes defintely got that part. But those mistakes surely are to be expected ?

Hence the marshals perhaps should have been closer to the near side of the road (camera mans side)

Anyway. Lucky lad not to come out of it with head injuries.

The reason for the box junction (all of the red and white tape) is just in case the driver takes a wrong turn, which could happen for a number of reasons.

In this case the road should have been clear for 50 metres, with nobody standing on the road, as well as in designated areas in the fields and on the ditches around it.

The marshals would have had a drawing like this:
    239489.jpg
which shows exactly where people can't stand.

If you compare the drawing with the video, you'll see that there aren't any people standing where the red lines are on the drawing.

Unfortunately the marshal was out of position when this happened; thankfully he wasn't injured.

One question OP, why mention a website in the title when it has nothing to do with the video? Oh I see now, it's ripped from youtube and re-uploaded by that site, but why not post the original and give the video take credit?

Anyway marshal was totally in the wrong shouldn't have been standing in a box junction.

What is that man made of? Love the way he picks up the spec's and not a bother on him.

Blue bib means he was a sector marshal for that junction. Technically, they shouldnt even be in the box junction, but they would be reasonable safe on the side the camera man is on.

Without seeing everything that was happening before he was hit its hard to know what was going on. To me, he looks to be speaking with the specators on the outside of the bend right before he gets hit. Should he have been there, no, but for anyone who has marshalled before knows, asking someone to move is better than shouting at them and telling them to move.

Was at this corner years ago, and its just off a main road, not far from a village as well i think, so crowds are always big here. Its easier to keep people out of dangerous spots, than trying to move them when they are in those spots. It could be all he was doing
