Supposedly RVP set to start on the bench at Fulham.
Where did you hear this ?

Any chance that the qpr lineup will be announced before 1130 tomorrow?

    Very unlikely .

Hrm, a good portion of my team is playing away from home this week, thinking it may be a low scoring week for me.

Michu, Davies, Mata, Bale, Ba, RVP, Suarez all away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,711 ✭✭✭keano_afc

Russell Martin away to Norwich, Demel home to Swansea or Davies away To Wham?

Is there a Boards.ie league? Or has entry been closed up since the first few GWs of the season :p?

Davies I would assume, Swansea have been pretty tight. I'm playing him over Demel anyway, either way Davies has a better chance of scoring/assisting

Bertrand & Suarez in this week,I know 'Pool are away to City but they tend to do ok against the big boys.

I'm spoiled for choice in midfield & feel bad about leaving Podolski on the bench & going with a 3-5-2 formation.

Mids are: Mata. Michu. Bale. Fellaini. Walcott. All are playing teams that are hardly solid at the back.

I have RVP (c) & Suarez up front & as I said Podolski is benched. It's an expensive sub but I've already taken a 4 point hit to eventually get rid if Ba so any transfer will have to wait.Might take a punt on Remy in the coming weeks to free up some more funds.

Why do you have Podolski along with that front 7? It gives you an unnecessary headcahe each week of who to drop, and I assume your back line is suffering from it!

He's there since dgw & Ba had to go.My cheap defence is actually outperforming my usual choices of more expensive players.

No team is good at keeping clean sheets so I don't feel as bad if a 4.5 million defender concedes in the last minute compared to a 7 million one doing the same.My scores from the backline have actually improved despite it being worth roughly 12-13 million.

As I said,Podolski is next for the chop-he did his job for the dgw but was never in my long term plans.

    .

liverpool havent won a game against any team in the top 10 all season. Having said that suarez can score against anyone and you have the dgw.

Im giving serious consideration to selling rvp after this GW and not getting him back in till either gw 29 or 30.
    Reasons being
GW 26 Everton H ( 3 days later Away to Real Madrid) GW 27 Qpr A GW 28 Norwich H (3 days later Home to real madrid) GW 29 West Ham A ( fa cup 6th round is scheduled for that weekend theres a good chance utd will be in the 6th round the game will be called off but could be refixed for the tues or wed after if so will bring rvp back in. If its refixed for a later date Ill get him back in for GW30.
Gw 26 I plan on getting in Suarez for RVP and making suarez capt. Giving me a front 3 of Sturridge Suarez ( DGW) Aguero ( away to Southampton) I wouldnt be surprised if rvp didnt start and no serious players are going to capt him.
GW 27 Suarez out for Giroud. Arsenal are at home to villa. This is the one gw I would be worried about as RVP will defo start at QPR. However QPR have tightened up at the back and Walcott Capt at home to Villa is as good an option as RVP.
GW 28 RVP is at home to norwich they play Madrid 3 days later cant see RVP starting unless the first leg threw up a result that meant the tie was over. Again it would be a risk to capt him. Aguero who I have will be away at Villa better capt option.
GW 29 Rvp mightnt have a game.

I would never usually consider taking out RVP but I wouldnt capt him these next 3 GWS and theres a fair chance he will only start 1 of the next 3.
Only problem is losing .4 on him when I go to buy him back but I can see him drop .1 by the time I get him back and I should make a .1 on on Suarez so may only cost me .2. Like most on here money isnt as much as an issue as it has been in previous years.
Long winded post I know but if anyone can talk me out of it please do getting rid of rvp isnt something Id do lightly.

Don't agree with most of that, you think he'll start one out of three league games? I'd be amazed. Just because they have 2 games against Madrid doesn't mean he automatically won't start league games beforehand. Selling RVP before games v Norwich and QPR...your rivals will be delighted.

Id say two . Norwich at home I really dont think he will start. Everton he more than likely will start but Id be nervous about the teamsheet. I think your underestimating how much Fergie wants the Champs Lge and how much of a step up these games against madrid will be he will want his best players fresh. He is also bigging up his four strikers so if he cant trust them for a home game at norwich he never will. I agree my rivals will be happy as its a risk that Im sure none of them are considering. It could backfire.

Anyone going to join me in getting rid of rvp for a few weeks . These things are a lot scarier when your on your own.

As I said y'day, the one player who I would swap RVP for in this league is Rooney. He can go on insane hot streaks and I expect Rooney to match RVP's output in the remaining matches of the season.

Prob wont do it myself but the option is there,

I was going to do it last night, only I'd be making a hefty loss to bring him back if Rooney went cold.

just outside the top 5k. Have to pull the trigger tonight if Im going to do it though as suarez is going up and I want to minimize my losses on buying rvp back.

I think rooneys more likely to be starting the next 3 games than rvp. Hes fresh enough after his couple of injuries.

Go for it, you've got the background that suggests you know what your doing and I can't fault the logic. I was ploying with swaping Michu for Lampard two weeks ago. I didn't do it for fear of Michu's large ownership and I really regret now.

going to leave it till tomorrow just incase suarez gets injured sent off tomorrow. Its a risk as Im currently top of my two money leagues so hopefully doesnt come back to bite me. I got rid of michu in my wildcard 4 gameweeks ago has worked so far, but like yourself bottled out of bringing in lampard even though I suggested him on here 6 weeks ago.

there really is some serious midfield options this year and the previous big five must have midfielders we were all talking about have some serious competition now. Not sure we can class them all as essential now. You could put an argument forward for having mata walcott bale michu fellani carzola lampard gerrard silva hazard carzola sissoko.
If I had to rank them FF wise taking everything into account it would be
    Walcott
    Mata
    Bale
    lampard
    silva
    fellani
    hazard
    michu
    sissoko
    gerrard
    carzola
Interesting to see peoples thoughts on this

United have wrapped the league up beyond all doubt after today, I'm thinking the time is probably right to cast Van Persie adrift and strenghten all round, even downgrading to Rooney will give me 3.1m to play with, Suarez even more,
What do ye reckon? If United are to get over Madrid he could be held back for champions league duty quite a few times.

I'd take Silva and Cazorla out of that list. Both have done nothing in ages, especially Cazorla. Has he even got a kick at the ball since Christmas?
Henderson probably offers more than him. Michu's star is starting to wane also, probably with his eye on the cup.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,141 ✭✭✭Santi101

Silva has been average for about 18 months tbf, bar a handful of games. Overrated IMO.

Mata is the main mid I think, best player in the division this year for me bar none. I include RVP and Suarez in that. Bale and Walcott are important players to have now aswell, mainly because they're both playing very high up these days.

I'm surprised Hazard has so many pts, he's had an average season really but loads of assists it seems even though he got a load of them in the first few weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,141 ✭✭✭Santi101

Edit: average since the United 6-1 rout, whenever that was.

Henderson is an average player who has scored 2 goals recently. Nothing more, nothing less.

Cazorla has a quieter time over Xmas but he'll come on strong again. First year in England isnt easy so he's done well. Did score and assist in 2 of last 3 starts.

silva scored 2 a couple of weeks back and is a key player for one of the top 2 sides in the league, agree on carzola thats why I had him 11th out of 11 on my list. TBH just trying to get some debate on it 3/4 weeks ago there were 5 must have mids I just think things have changed these last few weeks makes things a lot more interesting for the rest of the season.
