Vodafone: how should i test my connection speed?

    hey folks!

    my vodafone connection is a bit slow this week for some reason. can you
    suggest useful ways for vodafone customers to test their connection speed
    please?

    i've used speedtest and chosen the vodafone server which gives me the
    expected result of about 8Mbit/s

    but when i download in a browser from heanet, apple or my old iol ftp
    space (these all usually run about full speed for me) i'm only getting
    about 3Mbit/s - 4/Mbit/s at best. :(

    anyone know if there is a vodafone problem affecting access to locations
    outside their own nework?
