Seriously how many muppets randomly waltz onto this taxpayer funded construct without paying the fare? I'd imagine it loses a hell of a lot of money given the amount of people that don't even pay to use it. Haven't the geniuses at Dublin Corporation not considered erecting barriers with ticket gates to ensure that it is no longer a hope on, hope off freeby service so many seem to take it for?

A LUAS walks into a bar.

Barman says you're getting no drink in here, you've gone way off the rails lately.

yeah..... lets get angry about something!!!
THE OPERATOR of Dublin’s Luas light rail system enjoyed a 6.5 per cent rise in revenue last year, though pre-tax profits fell due to increased administration costs.

Accounts for Veolia Transport Dublin Light Rail Limited show that turnover recovered last year having fallen in 2009. Sales reached €42.3 million in 2010, up from €39.7 million in 2009. The improvement was due to “increased activity”, the company said

Barriers never stopped me jumping the underground. Never even been on the Luas n Its only at the other end of drimnagh.. don't think I ever will either, looks shìt

You'll always get young scamps taking advantage of such, maybe the security is just watching out for trouble makers / substance takers.

I once saw a Northern Irish singer songwriter (who famously wrote the theme to a popular UK-made Irish sitcom) get reefed at Ranelagh for LUAS fare evasion. The feeling was divine. Comedy at its best as I'd have been nabbed if he wasn't.

People with bus ticket from a broken down/canceled bus or broken down/canceled train, people with a leap card or a travel pass or free travel pass (disability pass).

You should think about that for a minute, before you have a go and go off on any more rants.

dttq has gone very quiet for some reason.

    I wonder why???

Well I don't use it very often, but like it. They are regular, frequent and on time usually. My only fault with the service is that there's a lack of seats at times between certain stops.

And unlike some thieving scumbags, I always pay.

The Luas is the best thing to happen to Dublin, it's outdone only by Star Trek style teleportation.

Decent people have to pay higher fares due to the sheer numbers of those who don't pay. Using a service without paying for it is theiving, and all theives are scumbags. I would make an exception to that statement for those who steal to survive, but that's not the case here.
