For the last ten years, staff and students from St Joseph's secondary school, Stoneybatter have made an annual two-week trip to Calcutta to work with street-children, the sick and the dying. I have close family involvement with this and I have been out with the group on two occasions.

This year, now retired from teaching, my mother is travelling with a group of adults on 2nd of February - this Table Quiz will be a final top-up to all fundraising carried out so far. All of the group travelling do so at their own expense and all money raised goes directly to charities based in Calcutta.

Money raised will go directly to organisations such as the Hope Foundation, GOAL and Loreto Day School, Sealdah (run by Bray's Sr Cyril Mooney).


The table quiz is being held in the recently opened McGarry's, Harold's Cross at 8:00pm on Thursday 31st January. McGarry's, as well as hosting the quiz, will be making a 50c donation for every alcoholic beverage bought on the night.

This event raised €1,700 last year and it is hoped that this amount can be matched this year.

Entry is €10pp - four people per table.
